I can see this being resolved with Agar stepping aside in a similar way to Lowes at Wire.
I was at the reserves yesterday and saw the reason why we are in the poop. Other than having no real class coming through the ranks ( one or two exceptions only ) the coach of the reserves is Last.
Now if you are an up and coming star what are you going to learn from him. He may be a nice guy, he may be a good coach of say an amateur team, but what does he know about turning potential into quality. From him we then have Agar and Sharp. Hardly inspiring.
We have all waxed lyrical on here about our local youngsters coming through the ranks and how many British players we have in the squad, yet they are not taking the next step up to become truely class players. WHY WHY WHY..... Its because we have nobody inspirational enough at the top to help them along.
We have failed to get anyone into a recognised position apart from prop of which we have an abundance of average plodders. We are obsessed with utility players, in other words jack of all trades masters of none.
The reserves play 5 drives and a kick the first team do as well. There are no planned moves. No off the cuff play. No inspiration and no leadership. At least they all play the same pattern so should be inter changeable like all good clubs do.
I would say thanks to all three mentioned, but explain that a head coach is coming in over them to over see the complete reconstruction of the club.
If they don't like that then THEY can decide to stand down. This I hope would not cost the club too much, other than the wage of the headman. They may well decide to stay and learn which would be credit to them. If the leave then its no big deal.
The muterings that I have heard indicate that Berro is trying to take a lead in shaking things up, which I feel is to his credit. The players are back biting and are divided. Clearly Sharp and Agar are not capable of sorting this out.
One of the worst examples I have seen of this division was at Quins this year when the reserves left the game after about half hour. They should have remained to watch and support their colleagues. They are the ones after all who should be aspiring to make the first 17.
Lets hope the alledged powers that be act soon and we can start the clear out and start building for 2010. Get rid now of the ones that Agar stated he would clear out. Put the youngsters in for some experience. Take the defeats which we are going to get in anycase, but most of all get the players playing with some pride for us to feel that it might be worth turning up to cheer them on.
