| Of the 6 teams that played in a derby at the start of Easter, 5 of them lost on Monday.
The other team was Saints and as they were playing another derby-fatigued team i.e. us, then either them or Hull had to win.
That fact speaks volumes for the physical effort a derby followed by a game three days later takes out of players.

| I think it should just be one game, i don't think it significantly increases attendances anyway, games like the hull derby, saints-wigan etc would attract a big crowd if they were played on the moon with a tuesday 3am kickoff.
id rather they ditched the magic weekend (which seems to have even less hype about it than ever this year) and moved the 2nd game to that weekend.

Can't see them ditching their flagship magic weekend match, and to be honest the clubs probably don't want to get rid of a match. What is a match worth in revenue for the club,a lot of brass and clubs don't like turning it down, player burn out or not.

| Three games in 7/9 days is too much imo, this weekends games will still have fatigued players in them, not enouh recovery time.

| Apparently certain players found it very difficult to get up for the Monday game after the Derby game. Its too many games in such a short period of time IMO and probably contributes to quite a few injuries.

| There should only be one game at Easter but the high attendances mean that nothing will change.
It's tough on the players but the clubs, the RFL and Sky are more than happy with the status quo.

| what i wonder is why do saints and wigan play on the thursday when everybody else play on good friday, 24 hrs can make the difference on a player playing or not, i know its sky dictating but slightly unfair on the others

Aye its usually Leeds v Bulls on a Thursday. Still the extra day recovery has to help.

| I think that with it being a 4 day weekend it would be the ideal time to have the Magic weekend. A real feast of rugby and a full weekend to enjoy it.
As has been said, you could certainly play a Hull / Rovers derby on a tuesday afternoon and it would be a full house. ( Calm down Mr Rule its not that good an idea )
That would leave one other match to arrange. which would probably extend the season by one week. But given that half the league attempted that this season, with Manley in town and Wigan's pitch problems, then I don't see that as a problem. At least that way we could have a proper start to the season which the media can appreciate.

Erm...didn't Wakey play a derby on Friday and then win on Monday?
Also, Cas won on the Monday after losing to us!
Or is Wakey Vs Cas not classed as a derby now?

No its just a pale imitation of one
On a serious note i'd be tempted to switch the Magic weekend to easter and revert back to Derby games. 2 games in 4 days is too much nowadays. As for the so called lost revenue, tough, all clubs get their Sky handouts so it would not be beyond the realms of possibility that they could budget accordingly.

I don't see the need to ditch the magic weekend. Why not just start a week early. Leeds played a week before everyone else.

would they be as high if they didnt rig it for the matches they do ?
If they did it right they could get some great games right across the weekend and great viewing figures too if televised right
i always think the second game is a waste of time and players energies
