Still a young player making mistakes but a class act in my opinion I like him at full back where he has more freedom , if he can cut down on mistakes he will be international before long

Quote: chico's nose "Whether he excites you or gives you a fright when he has the ball, everyone must admit that Jordan Tansey is somewhat of an enigma.

On a personal level, I have no doubt that Tansey is a naturally gifted player who has the ability to do some fantastic things on a rugby field. However, I am finding myself increasingly frustrated at some of the basic errors he comes up with on a regular basis and some of his poor decision making.

I don’t want to be too critical of the player, but after reading and hearing several fans opinions about him possibly been the England full back for the four Nations, I realised that my view of the player differs enormously from that train of thought.

So people, what are your thoughts on Jordan Tansey. Does he excite or does he fright?'"

If what I am hearing is true could we see another club suspension on the way?

He's only 23 and is playing his first full season in SuperLeague, in a position he has only played for 18 months.
Agar said himself that Jordan is either rocks or diamonds at the minute. The errors will disappear out of his game with the more experience he gets.
He's a FB, wants to be a FB and Hull FC want him to be a FB. Can't see it changing.

Very exciting player, he makes far less mistakes than he used to at Leeds. It's probably down the fact that he is getting more gametime now. He is still maturing but we don't want to take the enterprise out of his game.

He will always make mistakes, he is that kind of player but his positives always outweigh the negatives imo.

I don't think he's a full back. He's an exciting player with ball in hand, but he makes far too many errors to be considered a top full back. Dodgy under the high ball, average on kick returns and one on one defence isn't great. What I don't understand is that we're crying out for half back cover and he seems such an obvious choice. We need someone who can play there when Long retires and there aren't too many prospects about. With the injuries Horne and Long seem to keep picking up, I reckon Tansey could play just about every game at 6 or 7.

This would also solve the issue of where to play Whiting. I'd have no problem whatsoever with him being our first choice FB next season.

I appreciate none of the above is likely to happen, by the way.

I agree with all of that and was calling for it as soon as Long was hurt. This idea he needs 'freedom at fullback' I don't think washes really - get the ball in his hands in the halves and remove his requirement to catch high balls and bring the ball away from his line. Should play the full game in the halves on Fridday in attack and defence.

Agreed. I didn't want to be too critical after the derby (you know how quickly some people will label a poster 'negative'), but I don't understand the decision to play him at FB when we were defending. I know he was keeping an eye on Pat Butcher, but that role could have been assigned to someone else. Whiting is stronger than Tansey in the defensive aspects of the FB role and should have played there all night, IMO.

Its a tough one and I can certainly see where you are coming from but I thought Whiting defending at 6 opposite Pat was a pretty shrewd call and but for that one miss pretty much worked a treat.

Although Tansey does have the rocks side to his game he is still the most dangerous player we have in open play and for this reason alone I would be tempted to keep him there in defence. I think we are going to have to score some points to beat Wigan on Friday.

Assuming we have lost Calders then Whiting will probably be needed to face Pat Richards on Friday so maybe bring Berro into the 6 position.

I thought Agar made a briliant comment about him when he described him as "either rocks or diamonds" and went on to say that sometimes the diamonds were real gems and the rocks could be massive boulders!

He'll never be an international as he is a walking timebomb; he will make a mistake which will gift a try. However I have enjoyed his performances for us this year as he is one of a few players we have capable of producing something brilliant.

Long live the Tansey! (but I reserve the right to shout at him when he drops a clanger!)

Been saying the same thing for a long time, got great potential but for me not a fullback. Only time will tell though but for the time being he will be better suited at 6 or 7 with Whiting switching to FB.
