That's a big personal sacrifice to make for the club.
Think he wanted to put the ball under his shirt when celebrating his try, but realised the modern shirts are too tight.'"
Also did the "Bebeto" celebration but the TV cut away to a different camera

| "He'll never play for the team again" - pffffft I think he's just shown his commitment to the badge.
Congrats to Jamie and Chloe.

| Am I the only one that thinks it's pretty bad that he missed the birth of his child to play the game? Yeah, it's great for us that he played, but surely some things are far more important?

| No, I don't think it's "pretty bad". He will have decided together with his partner.

| Shaul can't win, if he had stayed home and then she still hadn't given birth by now, people would also be on his back!

No, you won't be the only one. He's a professional sportsman, there are sacrifices that have to be made. With a bit more 'planning' he could have been at home for the birth.
That said, congratulations to all in the Shaul family.

Probably. And it's also none of your (or our) business. It's entirely between him and his partner.

| Not the first team sportsman to do such a thing, but to travel away to the south of France is quite a gesture to the cause from Jamie and Chloe. Is this our first true Hull FC baby !!!! I'm sure he'll be given a poignant nickname. Congratulations to all the Family.

Turns out the baby arrived 2 weeks early. Maybe an apology due?

| Baby was early and with only being away for 30 odd hours ish figured he'd chance it. I'd of thought naughton to have come in if it had come to it. Another bonus of a chartered flight (although it didn't help him in the end). He'd never have gone if the usual set up had been in place

I don't think their baby has the ability to apologise for being early just yet... *sarcasm sign*
Little fact for y'all, Jamie missing the birth was the 6th most read news story on BBC website for a couple days.

| Didn't Danny Houghton miss a game for the same reason and certain people on here criticised that?
I support the player's decision but it's a good job we won and Jamie played well. Now has anyone suggested naming the kid Gilbert Brutus so no one will ever forget?
