If we allowed him to speak that would suggest we had no intention of offering him a contract. Surely that would be another massive blunder right up there with Briscoe and Cooke, unless we already have someone better lined up for the last quota spot? Offering Cusack an extension now looks a bigger mistake by the day.

Not really. Hull used to have a policy of allowing out ofcontract players to speak to other clubs to gauge more accurately their true worth on the external market. Doesnt always mean they dont want to keep them, just means the player doesnt think FC are shafting them on the current deal.

Our forum is non-existant, the rumour has been circulating for many a month. He lives in Hull so i wouldnt bet against him going there, a chance to play in Super league.

Seems like an ill-advised policy to me, especially if someone else has offered him a big deal. Isn't it up to the player's agent to make sure he's not getting shafted?

If they have an agent, and most agents shaft the players anyway. The policy imo has good points and bad points as with everything.

FWIW Whiting may have been offered big money elsewhere but is going nowhere. FACT.

Most likely, he was once on the KR books as a teenger, was released to Barrow.

I still think its bad business to allow yourself to get into a bidding war with other clubs when there's no need.
