Of course Yeaman is going to get criticism for not passing to his support players in a game breaking situation, it comes with the territory. FWIW Atkins got similar stick across at Warry for a recent slump in form.

To over criticise is wrong but it is also wrong to over protect. Kirk will be furious with himself I am sure but top class centres in that situation need to have better game awareness then Kirk showed last night. At International level it is the difference between a win or a loss such is the fine line between succes and failure at the top level.

Yeamans record at Hull is outstanding and defensively when he is on his game he is the best defensive centre I have seen at Hull over 30 plus years however attacking wise he has always lacked that X factor when it comes to putting his winger away.

I've no problem with people criticising Kirk, it's just the aggressive tone some people use. There's a fine line between critiquing, like you are, and just blatantly slagging someone off as others are.

There's a wider issue around some of our fans and an almost pre-meditated opinion on some of our players going both ways. Westerman gets some shocking treatment from some of our fans, at the other end of the scale is Whiting, who can never do wrong.

Completely agree. Social media now is such a powerful tool that players need educating on how to use and what to respond to because you will always get the abuse - genuine or not - because people can hide behind the anonymity of these sites hence keyboard warriors.

I am sure Kirk has heard it all before and its water of a ducks back but certain players may react differently and the club need to try to manage this because as you say they receive some shocking abuse which is totally OTT.

Well if the only thing they can criticise Yeamo for is the fact that he fancied his chances of scoring and didn't pass then in my opinion he's done very little wrong. He had a great game apart from this incident and nobody will be more upset than him that its caused this reaction from so-called fans.

Whether he thought he could score or not he absolutely had to put Pitts under the sticks, it was pure greed/complete lack of awareness, either are criminal. As it happens he didn't stand a chance of taking Hardaker on the outside.

13 tries in the 27 games he's played since the start of last season, so about par for his career record, and wasn't he playing whilst waiting for an ankle op last season?

Some of the posts on here are shocking, Yeamo's given more than 10 years for this club, he isn't in the best form of his life but he's still far better than Arundle.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and I'm happy for any of our players to back themselves. Sometimes it pays, sometimes it doesn't.

Gentle should pick on form (and availability obviously). It should be based on what players are doing in games and in training. I've not seen the Yeaman no pass incident but one thing's for sure regardless of which player it is to go to the next level we have to make sure we convert chances like that one if we want to ruthlessly beat top teams. All of the players should watch it and learn from it because it's those chances which can be the difference between success and failure.

With regard to Yeamo he's been in decent defensive form recently - my biggest gripe with his game would be the amount of ball I perceive him to put down (often crash ball) inside the opposition's 20. We know his strengths and weaknesses by now but his handling can at times be average.

Some people have gone a little over the top - on both sides of the argument. Unfortunately that's par for the course on t'internet. Not sure I'd describe anything on this thread as [ishocking[/i though. For that you need Twitter. Some real pieces of work on there.

I haven't said that Kirk is completely useless, or even called for him to be dropped. I am concerned about his form and particularly his handling - I'm fairly sure he won't be happy about it himself. I've suggested that when Arundel is fit it will be interesting to see what happens. That's what competition for places is all about after all. No point in having options if certain players are guaranteed a place regardless of form, is there?

People need to get off yeamos back! He gives 100% every game,always plays with pride and passion! a couple of mistakes doesn't make him a bad player! he will learn from it and come back stronger!

I agree it'll be interesting, though I think at the moment Kirk's earned the right to have a couple of bad games before we drop him for Arundel, if we're having the same conversation in 4 or 5 weeks then I may well have changed my mind.

IMO it's not about a couple of bad games. It's about an issue with his handling and decision making in attack that's been there all season and if anything is getting worse. His defence has on the whole been up to his usual high standard.

Never got beyond the 1st 3 pages of negativity. Yeamo 100% FC should have passed, made error, so what move on, we won the game FFS.

Looked subdued as the team clapped the fans after the game so I'm sure he knows, and his team mates let him know.

The funny thing is when/if he gets dropped for arundle and he gets found out / run over in defence the same posters will be moaning that he shouldnt have been dropped .
People slag players off and hide behind the old its an opinion . DJ missed couple of easy kicks which could have cost us the games but doesnt face this kind of abuse (and rightly so)

Just beat Leeds to go 4th n 9pages of this garbage. Yeah didn't pass a ball but played virtually 2 positions last night and Leeds still only got by once.

Probably not, maybe went too far with shocking and not far enough with unnecessary, it's more somewhere in the middle, and I do think he deserves more respect.

Apart from that one decision last night I can't remember him making a massive error with ball in hand this season where Briscoe/ anyone else would have scored had he passed the ball, although I haven't seen as many games as usual, and he is putting more ball down, though our left side is getting used differently and Yeamo's taking more balls hard and flat at the line compared to in the past, whereas our clean, quick ball is going right giving Crooks more time and space with the ball.

Agree on his defence, he had Watkins in his pocket last night until he went off.
