Will be gutted in a way when he goes. Hard to replace and hard to take him going to another English club rather than the nrl.
That said he may be be joining a Wigan club who are shedding quality players.
I'm sure the club will reinvest his and tickles salary back into the squad.

Other than the dropped kick off I thought he was excellent last night. He's also been moving around the field a lot more than he used to. Will be a big loss for us

Yes he played well and there is no doubting he is a quality player but if he doesn't want to stay then so be it. He hasn't been Mr consistent for me this season.
I personally don't see it as a big loss as we have lineham and crookes who are imo just as dynamic.
We also then don't have a huge chunk of our salary cup on the wing enabling us to strengthen in other areas.

I can't believe you really think this! If I was a FC fan I would not want the club to be held to ransom by Briscoe, let him go. He stopped developing as a player a couple of seasons ago. You have better wingers than him at the club. He is strong and looks good with ball in hand, but his defence is questionable at times.

Dobson can't tackle for toffee and has gone backwards since morgan left but I doubt you'd want to lose him

It is a fair point that he has not developed further since 2011. He will not get faster either, probably the reverse.

TBF, he's never quite seemed happy at Hull since Agar left and the business with his brother.

Anyway if Wigan lose Tompkins it will be a big mistake joining them. They say no player is irreplaceable but in the current climate Tompkins is. Their whole attacking structure revolves around/depends on him, whether he gets the ball or not. As evidenced by their win ratio Tompkins playing v. not playing

Tomkins won't be leaving Wigan, he has it in his contract that he has to stay until at least the end of 2014.
Briscoe will be a big loss, best player we've produced in a long time and Lineham is nowhere near as good yet.

You say Tompkins won't be leaving Wigan like you know it 100%! If you read the news both here and Oz you would surely know he is being touted around and Wigan are preparing for his exit. Seems the only chance he won't go this year is if no clubs will meet his high wage demands.

Agree Briscoe is a big loss, however it is at least mitigated by his position which obviously is not the most pivotal and where we have alternative players on better value contracts. Also mitigated by it seems his development has reached a plateau in the last 2 years. On the negative side, I wonder if there are the quality players available where we could potentially use his salary to better effect.

Don't know if there was any special measures in his contract or how he's even getting on in Aus, but should Tomkins move it, can anybody see Wigan getting Matty Russell back? In his loan spell here he looked excellent going forward (a couple of his kick returns at Manchester last year were outstanding work to get out of the in goal).
If he's had better coaching in Aus and improved his positioning and defence then I think he'll become a really good full back.
Not sure if there was anything in his contract though about returning to Wigan (or them having first refusal) or even how many years he's over in Aus for.

Tom Briscoe is leaving Hull at the end of the season. He has no club yet but the deal Hull offered him has ben taken off the table. Leeds and Wigan are leading the way, although a move to the NRL is still a small possibility.

Also, Danny Tickle has signed for Widnes.

Personally I can only see him going to Leeds. Just hope he makes his mind up soon so we can use the money else where in the squad.

I would be disappointed if Brisoce left for another Super League team.

Although the blow of him leaving is reduced by players like Crooks and especially Lineham coming through I would hope that he sees his chances of progressing equally high at Hull as elsewhere.

On a slightly cntroversial manner has Brisoce improved as a player over the last 2 years? What does he do better now then he did then and more importantly how has he improved on his weaknesses such a defending kicks etc? I feel he has stagnated slightly.

Not knocking a player who has real star quality and a player I would love to stay at Hull but observations nonetheless.
