Sentimentality has to be put aside, the simple fact is that Wakefield hasn't worked as a club for many years, they have put off the inevitable many times and this time the music has stopped and all the chairs are taken, the RFL will be rubbing their hands knowing that Widnes can come in, Castleford, St's, Salford etc have new grounds.

Sadly I think that bit is true, but if Wakey are screwed it will make the whole franchise process easier to sort out. If Wakey can get their house in order then they can apply for the next round. Simples

The problem Wakefield face is that the world has changed since KR did their pheonix from the ashes act (but learnt nothing from the whole experience judging by their current situation).

Wakefield will have a rugby league club, in NL1 or 2, they wont get a new stadium and I doubt very much they will trouble SL again any time soon if they do lose their franchise.

Tbh,rovers will only go bust if crossland does first.i think its fair to say rovers ''debts'' are a lot bigger than wakefield's,but unfortunately wakey don't have anyone prepared to underwrite them,like crossland does for the Dobbins.

tbh i either hull went out of bussiness i think they would be a fair few who would go and watch the other team at the end of the day its rugby league that we watch and a what a sport it is and for me to watch super league every week would be great but i still hate rovers lol

I used to go to when craven park was first built, when you was in the lower leagues with roofs brother and when you first got back in sl until i came to oz for the world cup.

Not all people who go to watch rugby are die-hard tribal supporters though. I reckon if Wakey folded there'd be at least 1000 fans that would potentially go and watch Cas. Likewise in Hull if one of the clubs folded, it's not likely to be a commonly held view amongst people who care about their club that much that they spend time coming on this forum of course but those kind of 'fans' do exist. Saying going to watch amateur rugby would compensate is a bit daft IMO, it's a completely different thing to the elite level.

So, in relative terms, you're suggesting that around 2,500 supporters (our average been 14,000 in 2010) would go to support Rovers if we went bust?

im sure if hull went bust we would create some sort of fc united of fc style team to play in the lower leagues and still get 3000 fans

If FC were to go bust i would imagine the vast majority of fans living in east Hull would go to rovers simply just to watch SL as would many more from the west of the city, wearing a red and white scarf i very much doubt but never the less it would happen!!
My guess is they would have a huge selection of scarves in the closet to choose from depending on who rovers were playing
