But by the same token surely it would then be the council's right to declare the area unsafe and not allow the game to go ahead?

It sucks. If the pitch is playable, the game should go ahead. Ridiculous that the no win no fee parasites and nanny state combine to take a decision about whether we want to "risk" walking a few hundred yards across Walton Street car park out of our hands.

True but this is Hull council remember......match should be ok,people just being hysterical for nothing.

The only area I think should be of concern is the concrete stairs outside the South East corner. Make sure they're well gritted along with the slope and if necessary just corden off the stairs. Other than that I would think it should be fine. Certainly better than the conditions for West Hull v York at the Boulevard, I don't think I've ever been so cold before or since and by the time it came to leaving my legs didn't seem to want to work properly. Still walked back fine.

Whether you like it or not the match will be in doubt now. Snow for the next few hours then freezing temperatures and the areas around the ground will not be clearable in time. Im looking forward to going but really dont feel it will go ahead which will seriously hinder us going into the next game against Cats

I was there that night as well.How the hell that was played is beyond me,as for cold,jesus mind you a big flask of coffee and whiskey helped

Think the fact that it was a bit of a leveller for West Hull was how they managed to start the game, and then the fact that they were in front was why it went the distance. Would probably have been a bit of a stink abandoning a giant-killing in progress.

True and,tbh,if memory serves me right,was a decent crowd as well....who did they play in next rd at boulevard...Widnes?

Was it Oldham? I remember they were comfortably beaten and as I left Rob Darcy was loudly celebrating because it had won him a few bob at the bookies.

I'll be gutted if this is called off, after such a promising display against Bradford, with Warrington missing key players like Briers and Joel Monaghan...and 4 years of dreary rugby...

Just watched Salford v Cas the pitch was covered in snow .Been snowing from early on
both set of fans got there .It just didn't snow on the pitch .KC Stadium has under - soil
heating that should have kick in .If other can get to games so should we .The only time a
game should be called off is if the pitch is unplayable .The Leeds game when ahead and it got colder
has the game when on

The main issue is about getting in and out of the ground. If there was an evacuation, the ground has to allow the stadium to fully empty in line with its safety certificate.

The club may well have spoken with the council about having the ploughs and gritters paying a mid morning visit to ensure the walkways immediately around the ground are safe.

As someone who can and has called off pro-games, I would be unconcerned about the pitch given there is undersoil heating to prevent freezing - there might be snow on the pitch, but if there is no ice then its game on with yellow balls and blue lines!!!

Outside the stadium is different and I would be liaising with the ground safety officer to understand the risks to a potential 15,000 crowd. If there was to be a 5000 crowd that could be contained within a small area of the stadium, then clearing less of the outer area may help to get the game on, but a large crowd in all 4 stands presents a bigger challenge to the safety.

If the ground outside could not be made safe, I would call the game off.

How do you rate the chances of the game going ahead?

Knowing our council, I would say that at the mo it is 30% max that the game will go ahead imo.

Its not just the council. It'll be the club and the police who make the decision.

Its not nice out there at present and a few more hours of it tonight and it'll be a no go tomoz im sorry to say. If the game was on monday i dont think it would be a problem.

Perhaps the club might put out a call early tomorrow to help clear certain areas then there could be a possibility.

The decision will have to be made pretty early and also the safety of the Warrington team/fans taken into consideration.

Got to agree with that. I would think travel over the Pennines won't be too clever. I'm out in Market Weighton and its still snowing heavily here and is pretty deep on the ground.

As posted earlier, I'm a wire fan living in Hull and would be more than willing to go and help in the morning. If just 20 said the same it would surely be enough to ensure the game goes ahead?
