£38000 worth of debt ....shocking we should be like Scotland!

I think the key point now has to be why Scotland can afford not to do this, and we can't

i know he doesnt have to pay it back at the moment but his fees have tripled over night,like i said it scared him enough to doubt if he should carry on

If he had any actual power/influence and sought to use it in line with his party's manifesto that would be worth sympathy, but his position (along with the other LibDems in the cabinet) is pretty much worthless. What is he trying to change? He said no to tuition fees etc before May 2010, then the chance to jump into bed with Cameron came along and he abandoned his commitment straight away.

Agree with the sentiment if not the actual charge. There are many councils that provide excellent value for money services whilst freezing or reducing the cost to their council tax payers. Alas it seems there are many more who, whilst shielding huge bank reserves, prefer to slash front line services and jobs without any regard for improving efficiencies seemingly for purely political motive.

Oh believe me I haven't forgotten that for one instant. That was very nearly as two-faced as the Lib Dem's sudden renunciation of their pre-election pledge. Our politicians are a poor lot overall, but the current Government adds a level of incompetence and self-interest that the last lot could only aspire to.

Indeed, wait until the facts about what Labour have planned for HCC and their staff in the next 12 months come out, and then run for the hills, because it is going to be carnage.

Minns going is absolutely fantastic, this self gloating bigot has truly ruined people's lives ind incomes and has self handedly smashed this city into bits (including the Boulevard).
Labour never recovered the utter mess left by Thatcher and her tory government, that's a massive reason why we never truly clawed out of their mess in the nineties. I don't know how old you are, but I am old enough to remember the great things she ruined forever, including our own city (fishing) she did nothing to save the problems of that trade. So to talk about cuts and job losses is nothing compared to the shambles she left the country in. Good riddance Minns.

I heard some figures quoted on Radio 4, that the lib dems had 75% of their manifesto in the coalition agreement, and the conservatives only have around 60%...
