“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club.
Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.

| I think you'd be lucky to get near 40k for Wigan V Saints/Warrington for a fiver (stadium permitting of course) I just don't see the widespread interest in the game even within the die hard heartlands.
We can't even fill the national stadium for the biggest day on the RL calendar with the two biggest clubs in the history of the game (& best attended in recent times)

| Hi guys. 1st off thanks for the welcome I received yesterday when I joined the forum. For my sins, I follow Yawnion as well as that was the 1st rugby I was introduced to. The crowds gathered Wembley today and Twickenham earlier in the season by Quins is the way Yawnion is attempting to compete with that game with the round ball and the great actors. The main market they target are the local schools (free /£5 tickets)to get the kids and their respective parents along to the game. They also back that up by including the local schools in their area pre and post the match in their community programme. A great deal of hard work but theyare capturing the imagination of kids and parents alike and there is no reason why the RL clubs can group together expecially on Magic weekends/ normal Derby Matches and think up a marketing plan to to get the kids and parents along.
I know a fair number of you will find Yawnion sleep inducing, however some of us love both codes and I think there is certainly more cross knowledge sharing going now between clubs of both codes than ever before.
Finally as a relatively new FC fan, I'm very pleased with the win last night, expecially in light of how many 1st choice players were out!

| tbf I'd have gone for a fiver and it was nearby, a good game of union, however rare they are, can be quite enjoyable

In Adam we have trust
In peter we have belief
In our team we have pride: |
|
| One thing I did notice was the middle tier (mainly corporate hospitality) was fuller than when we played saints in cc final. Free tickets always bring the hurays in

| I don't like Union, however I do admire the way they have continued to market their Premiership games.
We may all agree the product isn't great, however they still nearly filled Wembley and also filled Twickenham at Christmas. Some League clubs have tried the free ticket route and not even filled their stadiums, so it is still achievement.
It has normally been League leading the way with innovations, Professionalism, Video Ref, Sin Bin etc, but this is something we could borrow off Union. Wembley wouldn't work, but it may be worth perhaps Leeds/Bradford hiring out Elland Road or Saints/Wigan using Anfield.
You can say it is a cheap effort, however team sport is the ultimate brand loyalty (we'd all change our Ketchup, before we suported another rugby league club) so if you get kids young at a big club event, then some may stay forever.

And just before it is locked - We are supporters of Rugby League a totally different sport (I know same shape ball) . As some-one said earlier in the thread look at the attendances of these teams at their own grounds - and by the way do Saracens have their own ground?
It was a great attendance today but at £5 a go in a City of millions - Including from South Africa, NZ,Australia its a bargain for all these Sports Lovers. RL in this country will never have the same profile but there are Thousands of us who love the game and in my case would never pay money to watch Union.

a daughter (at uni in london) of a guy i sit next to got free tickets for the game and apparently there was a lot given away so that would have increased the crowd also.

And I am not having a go at RU Jed cos it was a great attendance but if you like sport and were given a free ticket to go to Wembley its not a bad way to spent a Saturday Afternoon. I also wonder who gets what financially out of these games. Do Wasps who are in s..t street or Sale who would like to ground share with Salford or whoever. I am sure you understand were I am coming from. Its not just Bradford Bulls in the Rugby world who are in dire straits.

No absolutely its a great attendance for a standard league match, this girl went as she was offered free tickets and like a lot have said I physically wouldn't pay for tickets to watch yawnion, 100% agree with you there I am sure the smaller clubs wouldn't have the chance of filling Twickenham and enjoying a decent pay day that I am sure Saracens and Quins have had today.
