Does anyone think radford wouldn't be playing miller if he was the best option we have at SH?

I thought Miller hade something last season to kick on this season but for whatever reason he has not had a chance. Maybe he does not fit in Radders plans. As it is he either gives Miller a chance instead of him stuck on the sidelines or Hull release him. His situation is not doing anyone any good and it needs sorting quick.

Miller was a 21 year old kid who came across half the world mid season to play the hardest position on the field. In a down in confidence team, behind a small getting spanked every week pack, with a disinterested half back partner!
Far far to early to right him off for me, and since he has history with rankin I'd like to see him have a run or 2.
When we have a full pack a backline up of
1 shaul
2 lineham
3 crooks
4 yeaman
5 binman
6 rankin
7 Miller
Looks okay to me, has potent try scoring ability, line breaking ability, speed power size and elusiveness. The big question is again can the halves prompt probe and kick sufficiently. Worth finding out with them though instead of using a top class 9 at scrum half!

Also on a side note Miller in this corresponding fixture last year was man of the match

I like that back line, but I'd put Horne at 6, Rankin to FB and leave Shaul out.

Why? I don't leave miller out of the team..I just told you the reason why..you just don't like it because you rate him..shame wests didn't or our coaching staff.

Why cant people get it into their thick heads - Miller is ! He maybe does one or two good things a game if hes lucky then the rest of the time gets steam rollered or runs round like a headless chicken! Another example of Gentle thinking he can polish a turd when he clearly coudnt.

I hope Miller does get the message and goes elsewhere as im sure there miles better around than him and Radford obviously thinks the same

So the reason he isn't getting picked is because he can't defend? If that's the case then I'd like to ask you a few further questions. Firstly, if that's the requirements for a spot, then how come Ben Crooks is getting a game? Secondly, if he's that bad why was our defence better last year when he was in the team?

Fact of the matter is Horne & Heremaia in the halves doesn't work against the better teams (or most teams for that matter), what's that saying about doing the same thing and expecting a different result?

Surely it's props we're short of and it's that which is dictating changes to the squad. Radford clearly believes that Miller is the fourth best option of the 4 players that can play halfback at the club. Why would losing two more props have any effect on that view?

It doesn't. However against Castleford the combination in the halves, as proven before didn't work against a well organised defence. I'm not saying Miller will definitely be any better but it's worth a shot. Radford was pretty quick to bin Rankin out of the halves.

Or just decided that the pairing he chose was right for the game in question?

Hes not that good in attack either, ben crooks misses tackles as all players miss tackles, like i have said before..big difference in missing a tackle when fatigued or out smarted or bumped off, to jumping out the way! seb said everything ive said & everything the coaching staff see every day...not my fault i speak the truth about certain players..& crooks has been dropped for bad performances. We focused more on defence last year so thats probably why. horne & azza are not the best halves in SL but they are the best of our bunch.

Fair comment. There is merit in the argument that the Head Coach has access to training/stats that us on here picking the team do not. I would initially have played Miller this week but then subsequently knowing the forward situation I probably wouldn't have done as Radford hasn't. Think Radford needs to say something good about Miller sooner rather than later or play him otherwise it becomes unsettling for the player. In general scoring points isn't a concern so far like it has been in the past and this week the half back argument isn't the focus IMO.

That I can accept as a credible reason, I don't agree with it, but it's fair enough. But I can't accept that the kid is 'gash'.

We haven't seen enough of him to know one way or the other. There is a question mark over him defensively however that shouldn't be used as a major reason for not playing him.

Haven't posted on here for a while but I'm going to stick up for miller here! The lad is 21 years old and has bags of potential! If that wasn't evident last season then some of you were watching a different player to me. I can understand people have divided opinions on him but to say 'he's crap' 'he's garbage' etc need to get a grip! He travelled to the other side of the world and was thrown in at the deep end without any consistency of a half back partner, he's now had a full pre season under his belt and deserves to prove his worth. Heremaia isn't a scrum half no matter how much Radford wants him to be, and we are weaker for not having azza at dummy half. Time to back the kid and give him a chance.

Me too. He was never going to be picked for this match as Radford aint going to launch him into his first game this season behind a decimated pack. Would've been suicide for the kid's confidence at the very least. Radford is protecting him by not picking him this week, imo, we don't want another scapegoat character, do we? Incidentally, Miller looked happy and relaxed in Radford's company at Whiting's Question of Sport night on Monday - I doubt there's any personal issues or favouritism going on here.

Pitts, unless he's injured, is a mystery, however.
