Sure Chamberlain will be back in the 17, maybe one of the young forwards ? Not haring much of Gardner these days - is he slipping down the list ?

Won't release Holmes as he played in the cup so counts on the cap doesn't he? Let's see how it plays out without getting stuck into him and the club.

Surely we should have sent holmes to see a knee specialist months ago if he's had the problem since last season? It was hardly likely to miraculously heal itself

Feels similar, albeit not as severe, to the Abdull situation. Clubs done everything possible to avoid surgery, however it now looks like surgery will be the only option. Imagine he'd miss a few months at least, similar to what Asiata had done potentially last year.

I’ve heard the term wear and tear related to his problem. I guess the only surgical option is a washout with the odd jab. Not sure how long he’s contracted for but if it was a year then that’s about right. We may not be able to find a back rower available who can strengthen us, so we might have to give the youth a chance. I would expect the staff foresaw this?

Promising start for the new back room staff [/quote:1l6a9az1] Going on my own experience with a long standing issue, I was advised by a specialist that the issue could be managed with physio & monitoring which was best course of action. All seemed to be going well and was improving, then a short while after during a check up they said surgery was only option. It could be that the specialist has given Holmes & Club similar advice. So it’s not always as simple as saying the club should have known etc. I’m pretty sure the club will have known as much as possible, they would have to for insurance purposes alone. They will follow the guidance and advice given by the medical people as to why is best course of treatment and action accordingly. Just hope that Holmes can make a recovery and at least have a part on the field in 2025.

Losing Hardaker will be a big loss as thought he good against Catalans. Was always going to be a difficult task to get anything from this Friday and now a touch more difficult. Still possibly a time for one of the young lads to shine and take their chance and at least this time around they'll have experienced support around them on the field. Would imagine that losing Hardaker will see Logan Moy come is at FB with Rapana switched to centre? Plus there is the time element. Think once again fans see things in black n white if you pardon the pun.its in the clubs and players interest to get the optimum outcome so having acquired Holmes, rightly or wrongly, I’m sure the club is doing the right thing for Holmes the player and Holmes the person.

It's a blow losing Hardaker as he did well last weekend. I'd probably also go with Moy at full back and Rapana offering that experience in the centres. It's probably going to be a tough night. With the team from last week I'd have given us an outside chance. With the squad name, looks very unlikely. Hopefully a couple back for the Huddersfield game which we should be winning.

Hardaker rarely misses any games….until he signs for FC of course

The Hardaker ommission has given us a bit of a conundrum. I think we need Rapana at centre now, which means Moy at FB. I would probably go with the plan A being that Balmforth will play 80 minutes. But we need a contingency plan in case he is really struggling. Probably in the form of Lane going to hooker for 20 minutes. Far from ideal but I think we need to stack the bench with size and whilst I trust Hutchison it could be a waste if he isn't really needed in the end. Most teams have injuries just look at others... But again it's just us ...
