Quote: Roam Ranger "

I will say though, and this isn't aimed at anyone here specifically, but I think one of the reasons our fanbase has been accused of being toxic is the reaction to signings and rumoured signings. Instead of welcoming a player to the club, we instead question and criticise the signing of that player and/or deem them not good enough for one reason or another. And that discontent only grows if they fail to dazzle in their first appearance and every match thereafter.

As I say, that's not aimed specifically at anyone. Just an observation on our divided and often negative fanbase who seem to have lost what little patience and positivity was left.'"

We're no different to the fan base of any sporting club in the world. Nowhere do you get universal agreement and positivity on signings. The difference with us is that the club has gone down the toilet on and off the field in recent years and fans rightly will have a more negative opinion until things start to improve.

On the recruitment as a whole, it's high risk and may work or may not. Injury prone players in cust and abdul, older players in sezer, rapana nad hardaker, young inexperienced hooker and journeymen like holmes and chamberlain.

Let's be honest, the 3 biggest areas we need to improve on are fitness (including conditioning), defence and attitude. Sort those 3 out and we'll be more than half way there irrespective of the playing group. That will be down to myler and cartwright to sort. It will be interesting to see what happens

I guess Woolford was drawn to Huddersfield because of his dad's link. Maybe we sounded him out but he was also in talks with them at the time.

Quote: ComeOnYouUll "Looking forward to seeing Rapana. He adds professionalism, leadership and a will to win.

Plenty of moans on here but again no-one suggesting names of players we should have signed instead who were available and willing to sign for us.'"

I don’t think people are moaning per se or just for the sake of it though, I think they most are balanced with their views and reasons why.

For me Rapana who despite his age is still a top player who will add leadership which has been lacking since the likes of Ellis & Mini retired. In isolation along with Asiata then I think Rapanas signing would have been received a little better.
But with the likes of Sezer who seems to have done ok this season back in the NRL but did very little after his first season in SL and was practically anonymous at Leeds. Then add in Cust who can’t seem to get a game at Salford and has a more than chequered record in the SL fans. Add in we have ideally needed a running half to complement Abdull, a quality 9 to replace Houghton and ideally a quality centre then fans will quite rightly
question the signings given our record since 2018.

I just hope that the connection with Cartwright will be a big plus but remain to be convinced on Sezer or Cust as personally think both aren’t they type of players we needed.

Balanced post. I'm not convinced at all by the recruitment but with a new coach and the strengthening of the back room staff I'm hoping for a steady improvement on the field. That's the least we can ask for after the shambles of the last few years. Hope over expectation!

Look at the sack of team we've had this year then look at next year's team with Asiata, Ropana, Abdul, Cust, Sezer - I for one am very happy we've what we've got coming in then add in new coaching team, new back room. I'm fully supporting

Loved Rapana's comments on Cartwright

“For me, I just remember how much confidence he gave me as a young kid! I just loved him as a coach at the Titans because he’s a man’s man. He’s a man of his word. He’s as tough as they come and the same applies to his coaching style.

“He’s the perfect bloke for a club transition phase because he’s massive on culture. He’s massive on building that culture around hard work and that willingness to win at all costs, and they are two traits that me and John both have in common.”

Think he is a great signing, also says he is happy to play anywhere in the backline, so could see him at centre at some point.

Think it's a very good signing, first time in a while we will have a few backs who can make yards out of back field.

As for Woolford and Asi, Woolford has signed only a one year deal and having watched Asi since he was rumored to be coming to SL, he isn't a running half.

Looks like Cartwright and Myler are trying to get people with the right culture, as most of the signings are know to them.

Do agree the pursuit of Lam, might have potentially cost us some options.

I like the signing, and I think he will be a really good mentor for Moy, both on and off the field. The likes of him and Asiata will bring professionalism and leadership that we have badly lacked probably since Eliis, Minichiello and Manu retired. His age isn't ideal obviously, but I still think he has a lot to offer.

I'm still hoping we can bring in a centre, but if we don't I hope Litten gets a chance there. He's raw, but the prospect of him at centre is a lot more exciting than Chamberlain. I think he can go well in a decent team.

Supeised at that, but do think they is a good player there, which he has shown on occasions, maybe a new club gives him a fresh start.

If they sign him on a 2 year contract, he's off contract next year and probably get him cheaper this year with us paying some of his salary.

I've been skeptical about the signings, but have a feeling I'll be proved wrong. Rapana could end up being inspired.
Won't be the first time I suppose.
