All coaches ultimately report to the BOD (or the owner). McRae will merely be the person on the board to whom our particular coach reports. I think it's a good idea to have someone overseeing playing matters who has direct experience in that area - it leaves the Head Coach to concentrate on getting the first team playing at the level they ought to be playing at.

| I think McRae will play a role similar to Hudge or the other SL chairmans do. It's clear that Pearson doesn't know too much about Rugby and IMO McRae is a much better person to oversee things that someone like Hetherington, Hudgell or Pearson.

because he's done nothing since leaving Saints, that is why.
I just hope it's temporary until we get a coach, and then he can clear off to Sky and be the pundit he is so desparate to be.

| McCrae kept that quiet didn't he on Saturday night, this was kept extremely tight. Eddie was questioning SM about this future so thay had no inkling. There's normally a leak somewhere. Says much about Pearsons network.
But.... His health is obviously not good, Hull are a massive club compared to Salford, he may think he's coming 'home' in some respects but it does seem slightly odd to me.
I've wanted Agar out for years so chuffed to bits but the timing does seem slightly harmful, things must have top come to a head, either within the club or with an external party.
The fact that Agar didnt come over on Saturday to clap the fans (again) after his interview speaks volumes. A massive following, he should at least make a token gesture, he has never felt secure in his relationship with the fans and that cant be good for anyone. Also the way this story has come out on the web, the big news is McCrae coming in and then tucked away within this article is the fact that our head coach is leaving, is bizarre. Maybe a slight lack of respect there, he at least deserved his own story!

That'd be my interpretation of it. And McRae doesn't strike me as the sort of person who'll be poking his nose in to the Head Coach's business all the time.

More then likely and I would like to bet that Pearson has been receiving rugby related advice from Mcrae from before he became the official owner of Hull FC.
Mcrae will play an important role in the transitional period that lays ahead at Hull.

| At long long last. Three and a half wasted years come to an end. I'm sure that throughout his time here Richard always gave his best, but his best was never good enough for a club of our size and potential and that should have been glaringly obvious to all by 2009. I'm sorry if that seems a little churlish, but we are not a charity case and in order to succeed at the highest level of any sport difficult decisions have to be made by those in charge.
In the few weeks in which he has been at the club Adam Pearson has obviously come to this viewpoint very quickly and has taken quick and decisive action.
It is absolutely the right decision for Hull FC, a decision which should have been made two years ago, in order for this club to make progress.
The hard work really starts now. The return of McCrae will be welcomed by most on here and let's hope he makes the right calls. The decisions which will be made in the coming weeks could well determine where this club will stand in SL for the remainder of the decade.
Here's to the future (at long long last).

I read that as meaning that Bomber will be an [iactual[/i Director of Rugby for a change rather than a disguised Head Coach. He made it clear just a few days ago that he's finished with coaching - this role looks as if it will be the contact point between the BoD and the Coach with overall responsibility rather than day-to-day stuff.
