Win bonuses don't count iirc, as long as a players bonus is not disproportionate to his wage.

Don't think we'll even consider the idea, unless Leigh do go under and he's practically given to us.

Just to put a few misconceptions about the Salary Cap to bed...

1. The 'live cap' just means that a club's SC is assessed continually during the year and that clubs have to get permission for any transaction that changes their SC during the season.

2. Wages count for the full year as soon as a player takes part in a single SC relevant match. It doesn't matter if he leaves mid-season, or even joins mid-season - his wages count as if he is available and playing for the entire season.

3. De-registration does not affect cap liability due to 2 above.

4. Win bonuses DO count. Prize money doesn't.

So, a player plays one game, is then transferred to another club (not necessarily the clubs fault) his full salary is counted? Sorry, I just don't see it being as black & white as that.

Not if you stopped paying him, why would Long leave the club without the rest of this years salary?

It does by the rules, but they can apply to have it dispensated , so in theory only the actual payments will count

The problem with offering settlement is that if we approach Long it's immediately in his favour. Can't see us getting much change from that scenario.

Sorry - should have clarified point 2. If the player transfers out to another club without a payoff then the salary doesn't count. I was thinking of the 'get rid' statements and paying off a contract.
