| Presumably Hull City like FC as tenants have obligations under the terms of the lease just as they have rights. There may be break points where a tenant could walk away without penalty but I'd be surprised if they could just leave , well not without continuing to pay rent etc. Did the Council not build any long term protection into the agreement to ensure that the two tenants had to play at the KC as long as they were financially sound etc? I'd have thought there must be something in the agreement along those lines , presumably for the full term , otherwise if both clubs simply set up elsewhere unlikely though that would be they'd have one big white elephant to deal with.

| Chris anything is possible with clowns like Geraghty and Brady. Who in there right mind would pay £72k a year to rent something they already own.?

You'd hope so, wouldn't you?
However, one of Lord Faulkner's first priorities after buying Hull was to try to renegotiate with Allam and the SMC board for improved terms to our agreement. Didn't get far, as we know. I'd imagine Allam would be far more accommodating with City's agreement as owner of both businesses - as far as he can be...
Perhaps the SMC controls the finer nuances of both contracts, subject to operation within a set of criteria agreed with the Council at the birth of the stadium, eg, minimum length of tenancy as you describe.
Possibly this is why the Council feel confident of continuing to call his bluff. Damn, does that mean he's going nowhere?

Its been some time since I read the contract (its a public record held at Hull Central library), but I seem to recall the contract has two 'protection' clauses; 'period of notice' and a sort of 'buy-out' clause. Both professional clubs are not compelled to see out the lengths of their contracts.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Allam's carried out their threat to leave the KC. Gates of 25,000 in the premiership is hardly the basis for sustainability, and when you consider demand for wanting to watch Premiership football, City would command 35,000 gates (even more against the top tier teams).
And as the Allam's say, they aren't going to fund any extension to the KC if they do not own the freehold.

I still don't see the evidence for this, in their 2nd season in the Premiership tickets were already becoming easier to obtain, and that was in a better economic time to now.
I don't doubt that a bigger capacity is needed eventually, but the 30-35K that the KC is capable of being expanded to is more than sufficient IMO
its also worth pointing out that teams such as Wigan, Fulham, Stoke, Swansea & Norwich are surviving just fine with similar capacities or smaller.

Correct! They won't even need a ground extension. In their first premiership season everyone who wanted a pass got one, in the second season they were a couple of thousand down on sales. Only chance of a 35,000 crowd would be against a Man. Utd or Liverpool for a major hounour. This Allam guy needs to change his acid supplier.

| haha laughable once the freshness of the Premiership began to fade, the bandwagon jumpers abandoned ship. City would struggle to fill 30000 stadium unless they are playing the top four or five teams. Let them move to Melton, he can't afford to build a stadium anyways.

Allam is a lunatic. All he is interested in is feathering his own nest. He wants what we all want - Something for nothing.

OLD FAITHFUL PAL OF MINE: |
|
| This is all a bit much for me at this stage of the football season. Hull City are not running away with the Championship, they are certainly not in any way or form promotion or even play-off certainties and this whole thread is based on ifs and buts! The Championship is a very, very difficult division to get out of and there are many teams of a similar or superior financial and support based standing to Hull City.
SHOULD Hull City ever reach the dizzy heights of premier league football again, they will only ever be a yo-yo club and can not plan to have or expect regular 25k-35k attendances for a prolonged period of time. Therefore stadium expansion should not even be a consideration.
As for Mr Allam, well he has a few more pennies in the bank than me granted. But he is not wealthy enough to support either a Hull City relocation programme or sustained premier league status. However as a Hull fan rather than a City fan, ownership of the KC stadium by Mr Allam would be a catastrophe for our club and I for one certainly hope it NEVER happens........
Roll on February 1st so we have something worthwhile to discuss!

| The council can't give him the stadium and he's shown no inclination to put in a realistic offer to buy, afaik.
It's owned by Hull City Council, so in the (essentially hypothetical) event of a referendum it would be the people of Hull who would vote.
