Quote: Baboon "No. Craig will do it.'"

icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif Good answer, Craig!! icon_wink.gif

I actually hope he does. Shame it's Rovers but i genuinely do!!

My only point was that Morgan isn't this god that people think he is.

Players improved under Morgan;

Watts - Excellent, wish we'd have signed him.
Fox - Good player, not exceptional but v.good.

Player who haven't or have gone backwards;

Briscoe - I know he's played for England (before i get lynched) but he's not as good as when he was at FC.
Cooke - Not Morgan's fault but still part of this point.
Wheeldon - Absolutely no different to the player we released.
Hodgson - Not looked like the prospect we made him out to be, Morgan not improved him at all.
Mariano - Massive prospect, bigged up by Morgan as the next big thing. Now at Wakey.
Colbon - Was good at Wigan, V.Average now.
I'anson - The next big thing, Gone!!

Can't really think of any more but i'm open to suggestions.

Agar's improved players;

Briscoe - The obvious one
Houghton - Quality
Turner - Has shown enough to look like a quality player, a very good spot.

Backwards;

Tommy Lee - P155 head, club got rid and rightly so.

Can't think of anymore, i maybe biased but have not tried to be, so please add/remove to your liking. This is just my opinion.

I'm just saying that, IMO, Morgan is no better a man manager than Agar, in fact it's more than a little bit the other way round!

I'm not trying to pick points Philb, Morgan is a fantastic tactician he, normally, gets his selection and gameplan spot on on matchdays and can certainly attract a player to the club. I'm just saying he's not as good with the younger players. There is no doubt that Morgan is far superior to Agar at picking/getting the best out of the aussies, for example; Galea who i rate very highly and you cannot argue with Vella's achievements. Even James Webster. I'm not trying to bash Morgan, my point was only regarding the young english players. Agar has a far greater knowledge of the english game and can get more out of the young players, if he doesn't see the potential/improvement ratio then he gets rid. Can you honestly tell me any he's got wrong??

Please try to read my points as a neutral and correct me where i'm wrong! umbrella.gif

With the exception of Jordan Turner which young english players has Agar signed???

It's not as though he's flooded the Hull side with young players either through the academy or from other clubs who have gone on to play game after game is it?

Quote: Holty "J Rule mentioned at a fans forum that Agar brought the Briscoes to Hull All 3 Briscoes. Plus Reece Lynne's played 6 games as a 17-year-old this season. And Houghton's come on leaps and bounds and was Players player of the year and supporters player of the year. Also Tansey was brought in at 22. Plus Turner as already mentioned. And debuts for Nicklas and Cunningham. But yes, apart from those Agar's record is poor in this respect. icon_wink.gif icon_lol.gif

You can leave Hall out, as that is what this debate is centred around. Agar saw potential, Craig didn't deliver.

I'll give you Washy, i forgot bout him myself.

No others.

Can i just reiterate, I'm not talking about signing as such. I'm talking about players who have progressed and those who haven't!! Take your specs off PhilB, i feel i have!!

And yes, i'll give you Turner to a level... He's not amazing but he's shown potential and some good glimpses, i'd rather have him than Hall!!

Players come on because They want to.. Coaches are like School teachers if people want to learn there will..You can only teach anybody to a certain point ..Any player in our sport of Rugby have sometime played when they were young ..they have their strong points and weakness C Hall is his tackling ..Some are good under the high ball they attack it.. I know I am going back a long time but I was told many times if you play Rugby you just do thing don't stop and think if you hesitate that when you get hurt C Hall is 22 he as had a good 9 years or more to get his tackling technique right

It depends on your perspective, on top of Fox and Watts, players come on under Morgan.

Murrell got an England train on squad spot.
Cockayne has improved immensley from the player he was 5 years ago
Lovegrove came as an 18 (might have been 17) year old centre and has developed into a starting SL prop.
Welham is a starting centre who has come through the youth team.
Colbon is far from average, if you watched him every week you'd see what he adds to our team and how we miss him when he's out.

The back wards ones
Was Mariano or I'Anson ever quoted as the next big thing? can't say I've ever heard it mentioned. I must admit his record of bringing through some young lads isn;t exceptional and he has made errors but to say Watts and Fox are his only successes is a bit harsh.

The player gone backwards under Agar could include
Hodgeson (gone)
Wheeldon (gone)
Hall (gone)
Lee (gone)
Horne
Washbrooke (seems to take a lot of flack)

Thats not to mention players like Berrigan who maybe through no fault of Agar just hasn;t delivered on the promise they came with.

All coaches will have players who have done well and those that have either gone backwards or just not lived up to the potential they were deemed to have. Maybe even with the best coach in the world they'd have failed, we'll never know, the players themselves will need to take a lot of the blame if they just don;t step up.

For me the best coaches in the world realise when a player isn't what they require for their team and either change the player or move them out, and recruit / promote the correct player for the team.
