The city centre would of had much more of a party atmosphere.'"
Totally agree, it should have been held this coming weekend with an open top bus parade down Holderness Road, Hessle Road, North Road and Anlaby Road to the City Hall. Mr Allam and City have let down their own fans and the people of Hull would have come out to celebrate in tens of thousands and not the 6K or so at the KC tonight, Mr Allam has let his personal feud with the City Council cloud his judgement and got it totally wrong tonight.

The speed at which this has become a council/stadium issue has prematurely soured what should be a fantastic, celebratory week for City. Could have waited at least 48 hours before going on a "thieves and liars" accusation trail in the national press IMO. Taken the shine off what they've achieved a bit.

| I feel sorry for the Hull city players, coaching and back room staff they deserved better then they got tonight. This arguing and back biting is hurting city more then anyone else. Thousands have been denied the pleasure of an open bus top tour of the city followed by a city hall reseption.
For what, Mr Allam for the sake of your club start to build bridges because this will end badly if you do not. This was an opportunity missed and you may not get another as easy as excepting the civic offer from the CITIZENS OF HULL.

Bless you. Phil Buckingham is so far up City's @rse it's a miracle he can see to type. No one's even asked yet what offer he put on the table to the council, have they?

Have to agree with this...while the players earn a fortune, when there are bus parades and civic receptions players of both Football & Rugby usually spend the entire occasion lapping up the applause, taking pictures of the crowd...usually with their kids in tow. I can't imagine the same effect was had in from of a quarter full KC tonight.

| Ah, Mr Allam. The philanthropist wanting to bring sport to the people of Hull. £10 tickets for all to embrace fans old and new. A donation of a sporting village to the Hull public. Saving Hull City and investing £60M as a gesture of thanks to his adopted home.
How wonderfully he honoured his words by excluding that same public from his success. In his haste to stick two fingers up to those he deems to have snubbed him he also alienates the very people to whom he claims he yearns to bequeath his benefaction.
Tactical mistake tonight, Mr Allam. 100,000 Hull people lined the streets and filled Victoria Square last promotion. Little over 4000 die-hard City fans endured a toe-curling private gathering tonight. Great demonstration of how to win hearts and minds.

Parade announced on the Sunday in 2008, an estimated 100, 000 cheered the bus on the streets and partied in the city centre the next day, Bank Holiday Monday.
"It'll be MY promotion party" screamed the Mail on Monday. Very well, Dr.

Absolutely spot on Wormy. I'm a pass holder of both sides and I am gutted at the immaturity on show here. Tonight should have been a great night for people all over the city to share in a great achievement by a team from this city.
Sadly it was a disaster. Sad for the people of Hull, not just the regular City supporters, and also sad for the players and their young families. Total embarrassment for all in attendance.
A massive opportunity for bridge building and sharing of success totally lost for the sake of stubborn self rightiousness.
What a mess, I hope Mr Allam is feeling the vibe of the people. He needs to change his stance for his own good. he's done brilliant in saving the Tigers, but my word, at times......what a complete pr,,k.

| I don't really understand the rush, tbh. If he'd left it until the weekend, I bet he'd have got nearer 20k. Still excludes the ordinary Joe Public, but a much happier occasion for the players and fans. I know players' holidays was cited, but if City had been in the playoffs, they'd still have been on duty anyway?

I am feeling for all Hull City / Hull people tonight - I have been so many times into the City Centre be it at the City Hall or Guildhall .Hull FC many times. Went when City last went into the Premiership - Remember Windass - Luke Campbell winning Gold last year. How the players have missed out Mr A. The only memories their kids have is a moment at Dads work.

| allems' selfish actions not only cost the public of hull the chance to cheer on the team but it has also cost the cities pubs/bars/restaurants money by not deciding to have a civic reception in the city centre, upto 100,000 people would have brought in a few quid for buisnesses that are already struggling after the boast that premiership status would bring in much needed money to the city, yet the football teams owner deprived them of their first big payday without even a ball being kicked!
