In the same position as he was before Long got injured, it's the Heremaia deal whcih affects Obst, not signing a halfback.

Give him a little bit of patience and he could really blossom - especially relative to the rest in SL, as the old guard retire and those in their prime look at big money in the NRL.'"
You're right, he needs to play otherwise don't bother signing him. PLaying reserve grade will do him no good, might aswell have stayed at Leigh.

Thank you Adam Pearson for giving the faithful hope: |

Dykes went off injured at home against Hudds. Went off after 10 mins with the injury that was to keep him out of the final

yeh agree thats what im saying really IF a halfback was signed then he would 4th or 5th choice halfback and 3rd choice hooker and woundt get in the 17.

I think Agar said last week he wanted plenty of options in the pivots, just like Hudds,so can't see Obst going anywhere, regardless if Long get's another year,or we sign another half.

| After reading all the pros and cons on this thread,my own personal opinion is Long should call it a day.Nobody is a bigger fan of him than me,he has obviously given his all at Saints, and now his body is paying the price.I put elsewhere,it has been a hugh disappointment to me that it has not worked out for him at Hull.Whatever he does next, nobody can deny in his prime he was class.

If he signs another 2 year deal at Widnes who are interested him it could tarnish his reputation and he will just be known as a guy who didn't know when to hang up his boots.

You are correct, and that would be a sad end to a great player.I truly hope he calls it a day.

| We should keep Obst.Look at Hudds now, they have lost Brough for 8 weeks, and Grix is injured,so plenty of cover in the pivots is a must.Lucky for them they have plenty of options,so it won't do us any harm, doing the same.

I think we have little choice but to throw Ellis in at the deep end and start him at 7 next season. IIRC Danny Brough was a similar age when we signed him and Dobson was even younger when he started playing first grade in SL?
