Hull doesn't need one, it's not as spread out as Nottingham or Sheffield.

Remember, trams reduce the ability of other traffic to use the City centre, Hull is much better set out than Sheffield or Nottingham, and the stadium is a short walk from the City centre, whereas in Sheffield and Nottingham they are a little further away.

You're "talking" to one of Hull's biggest critics, but your point is as hapless as you are.

take the m1 coridor for instance which of these city's is easier to get to from a major motorway with tram systems that run from it's junctions

Indeed I have, numerous times, Leicester and Derby have much better grounds than Nottingham or Sheffield, longer walks than the KC.

To be honest WIH, I don't need to read the links, I am closeley involved with the programme in Notts, and know how it is going, I also get some info. from friends that work with UEFA/FIFA about bids (all people I met working in Manchester from 2000), as you know, I am hardly Hull's biggest fan as a city, but I doubt they will lose out based on having (or not hainvg) a tram system.

Agreed. But you were slating him for using "old news", when (as you'll know if you're involved) the Notts tram expansion appears to be an ongoing current program that will be in place before 2018. As the second link demonstrates.

Nottingham's 2018 tram deadline is aspirational, a little like the aborted Leeds scheme, and the unfinished Sheffield scheme. It's a bit like the KC expansion article in the HDM, it was only a comittment to explore funding streams, not a comittment to do anything.

Ask people in Manchester if the tram gets to Didsbury yet, or if the Eastlands train terminal was complete for the Commonwealth Games.

Couldn't care less about the ruddy trams. Thought you were a tad unreasonable in your replies, that's all.

Having said that, the public transport systems in Hull aren't even reliable enough to get people to work on time consistently, so I would be intrigued to learn what the WC bid proposals are in this area. Should provide a chuckle or two.

Wasn't there a proposal for a tram system in Hull a few years ago ? . I'm sure the council at the time waved it off as "Not needed". Now we get one broken down lorry on the A63 and the city stops. Yorkshire forward ? Humberside backwards.

Hold on too many, ifs there I think. The extension is dead if anyone is expecting the council too foot the bill for a start, its political sucide for any party. The city has a massive problem looming, that bloody Humber bridge bill and that is going to suck up all the money the council has most of what we have who live here.

No one has sorted it out yet and unless Labour sorts the bill out before the next election you can bet the Tories will let the matter ride with them, heck they can blame Labour for it all.
