| In fairness McGuire said in the post match interview that he expected Watts to go part-time and it looks like we've come in at the last second. Sounds like he's struggled for fitness all pre-season, however it is a long season. If he can focus on getting his fitness levels up and be ready to be called upon when needed whilst on presumably reduced terms, then I think its a decent deal for all involved.

| I'm pretty much abit 'meh' on signing Watts. If we hadn't already brought Knight and Eseh in then I could understand making Watts an offer until the end of the year. That said on reading the comments by McGuire about struggling to find players that would improve them then I imagine that does change things a little as perhaps there isn't the right player that Cartwright wants in terms of ability and character to bring in currently for the long term. Surprising move by McGuire to release Watts if Cas themselves are struggling to recruit. I guess the difference is that under Cartwright, Watts will have to knuckle down and improve his fitness or it'll likely be a short reunion, I dare say or hope that if Watts body can cope with the training etc, JC will get a tune out of him. I wonder if the thinking currently is to possibly use Ashworth as an option in the back row for the rest of the season.

| If one or more of our current props get injured, I think we'll see the value in signing Watts

| The return of a 2016 immortal, so Danny and Carlos are not, in the end, the last of the immortals to wear the colours. A slightly odd one as others have commented, didn't see it coming. Would have been better if it was a backrower coming in but guess Cartwright feels Watt's will bring something to the side. If he can stay fit and he's committed then reckon he can be a decent asset short-term. Given the circumstances (both his and the club) it's probably a low-risk deal financially, gives us an extra body up front and experience in the middle. Didn't he end his time with us after been sent-off against Wire? (2018?), would be nice for one of our CC winners to end his time in the famous black & white on a slightly more positive note! If Cartwright (or Myler) feel Watt's can help us until the end of the year, then we need to trust his judgement, that's why we've brought him here. Let's hope it works out for all concerned, even if it's only a short term solution.

| We have struggled this year with lack of size . Well we could have Watts Knight Eseh Cartwright all available soon.....Makes our pack a lot more competitive. Don't know the ins and outs but can't imagine Watts will cost a lot .....He won't be expected to play big minutes and if he can give us 15 min each half would certainly bring a bit of size to our middles....Plus he could be rested for some matches.... It's only for this year and hopefully he can have a final flourish for us

| I think it’s a case of he’s an extra body if needed and an experienced one at that. He’s still better than Fash and Gardiner. Probably also better than Salabio right now. If he can pass some experience on and fill in when needed, I’m all for it.

| Well when I heard about this over the weekend and the fact he was struggling to even get fit at Cas where he’d failed some of the basic level tests made me wonder a bit. I personally wouldn’t have gone there but you have to trust the judgement of Carty I guess. He’s one of the immortals and I will always remember that the try in the semi against Leeds at Donny. He’s therefore for me a legend He’ll be cheap no doubt but it’s just our luck that a good second row will now come up and we will be short of cap. However, one things for sure if he’s disruptive he’ll be out!!! But, I’m not a big believer in returning to past glories in the twilight of your career but we’ll see. However as Billy Joel once said “then the king and the queen went back to the green but you can never go back there again” We’ll see!!

| Cant believe i am saying this but i think signing Watts for just this season is a good move and if we can get him on the field for most games playing 30/40 minutes his size and offloading will help the team. If the club have been savvy then its probably pay per game so shouldnt cost too much if it goes ti-s up Like Chris said more than likely we will see Ashworth in the second row for a few weeks now

| With Knight and Watts to bolster the pack along with Eseh it means Herman is finally getting some help and he's not having to take teams on alone, Watts for me is a good move as long as we get him fit. Hopefully we can get a second row in too as it's a huge weakness for us at the minute.

| Strange one from Watts to come to a club who's training regime will probably more intense under cartwright than Where's he's come from. Him & Mcguire suppose to have had a bit of a ding doing over it apparently.

| Jake the Peg:I can't see this one working out well. Injuries and suspensions are an issue plus he's 34/35. I can't remember the last time I saw him have a good game. Hopefully he was cheap. We definitely should have looked for a 2nd rower with that quota spot though I think we had to take watts available. He needs anew challenge we can spell him esp with Kinght and Eseh coming. I’m sure Mylers not dumb enough to allow this to limit our acquisition of back rowers/centres. As is said often on this forum we have to trust this administration- they haven’t made a bad start given where we started
