| Feel for Walker a bit but he finds himself in no man's land with a veteran international signed to play him position and a young player deemed the pretender to him position also.
I hope they all find themselves a club soon.

| Whilst it's not great for them, all 3 have known for a while they aren't wanted here. I would think tindall and walker are on way more than they should be so we will likely have to pay them off a chunk or subsidise their salary elsewhere. Surprised walker hasn't been picked up yet but I guess most clubs have a first choice FB in place. maybe leigh need one since moylan and hardaker left the building.
tindall has another 2 years on his contract I think. Another costly mistake by smith and clarke. God knows how much money we have wasted on poor recruitment decisions in recent years. When you think about last season then throw in the likes of reynolds and gale, it must run into 7 figures comfortably

It's a fine line though. You don't want to be seen as a club who bins players off early randomly. What has walker done wrong in his time at Hull to be side lined like this? We certainly looked a lot better last season when he played. I guess the issue there is that he's blighted by injuries

| Good luck to all three. Tindall just not Super League standard ufortuantely. Smith proably stopped us finishing bottom but again not the standard we should be aiming for. I like Walker, he has a bit of X Factor about him but ultimately he's not first choice in any position and there are issues with his injury record.

Correct call.'"
It’s been known for a while that all 3 have been offered about to clubs but it’s a bold move if they won’t be given squad numbers and not allowed to be part of the squad if they don’t find a move. People will say it’s positive that the club are being ruthless I can see why that’s a good thing but it’s also a balance keeping players and agents onside.
Walker would still be one of our better players and him and Smith certainly don’t deserve the naughty step treatment IMO, although I don’t claim to know what goes on behind closed doors. Hopefully we are forcing the issue because we’ve got players lined up we want to bring in just don’t see who would be available.

| That is a fair chunk of cap that's been made available, setting our sights on a big domestic arrival?
Glad we are running with a 30 man squad this season, thought it was a bit ridiculous running with a 40 man one last time round.

The key reason they won't be given squad numbers is because they don't count on the cap if we don't.
They all play in positions where we have cover and we have a need for players elsewhere so it's ultimately a matter of cap management.

The article says they don't count on the cap so it's irrelevant to our cap spending ability whether they stay or go

No point us keeping players who aren't good enough and we've already replaced. Tindall and Smith are championship players, Walker stood injury prone to be first choice.
Craig Harrison has stitched us up with plenty of duds recently. We've moved a few of his clients on in the past 12/18 months. He's an agent who has taken advantage of a naive CEO and owner.
Walker, Sutcliffe, Trueman, Tindall are all his players. No coincidence he was bigging the club up when Clarke was here, now he's left and Myler is moving on his high earning and underperforming players he's spat his dummy out in the media.

| Nearly every article at the moment mentions we're still looking to bring in an additional forward. Makes me think we might be in talks with somebody at the moment.

| All three will be on wages that reflect they should be in 17, maybe walker should be, but not sure he offers value for money (I know we have signed a few that are risks).
But those not counting on the cap, must give us a decent chunk of cap, so I'd hope for a decent calibre of forward like Sutton, Byrne or Bateman.
Shame we can't move Sao on and bring in a centre too. Although then we would need two forwards.

I would guess them moving on is already factored into our recruitment. I'd be surprised if we have a large amount of cap space left, certainly not enough to bring in a top class player

But we will be keeping them unless someone matches the wages they’re on.
I’m not saying I disagree with what they’re doing but it’s easy for fans to say stuff like ‘it’s about time we was ruthless with players’ when as someone has already pointed out there’s always a fine line when it comes to agents and reputation amongst players. FWIW I think Harrison still talks well about Hull whenever I’ve heard him speak and represents the likes of Lewis Martin.

| My thoughts echo what a lot of others are saying. Tough on the players but the right call by the club. It was hard to see where they fit into the new look squad. Walker aside, they aren't really the standard we need to be aiming for, and the thing that counts against Walker is his injury record.

| Well this is the sort of stuff that has to go on if we are to have the best first team squad possible after the standards of recruitment have been allowed to slip so drastically over the past couple of seasons. Myler and Cartwright are trying to cobble together the strongest squad they can from the players who would entertain coming to such a run down club as we have become. I don't think they have done too badly on that score. It's a start and there are a lot of winners at the club now at least. Well they are winners at present anyway!!!
Walker has got a deal of quality in him, can break the line and has a good footballing brain but they have obviously decided that his ability is not the issue but it is his inability to stay on the field for any length of time.., for me that's the sad one, but after watching closely the frequency of injuries he has sustained and the nature of those injuries he is quite frankly injury prone simple as. For me as well Morgan Smith has tried hard and looked to show some loyalty to the cause, but he is a Championship level player, while Tindall bless him isn't even good enough to challenge our two rookie wingers who eclipsed him last season. But when he was offered a contract who can blame him for signing it??
For the last 24 months or so we have, lets face it been a 'rest home' for these sort of players who, if they were honest, knew their short comings but were able to survive because of the ineptitude of the coaching staff and the attitude and lack of accountability of many of their colleagues, with contracts offered to them who wouldn't be tempted to do what they have.
I understand all three players have known about this for some time and the fact they are to remain around the club training etc when obviously there is no place for them in the first team squad (something that has been made clear to them), is I understand down to the way they have accepted the situation they find themselves in.
While no obvious British quality middle is available they will continue to keep fit and use the facilities at the club and lets face it teams like Oldham and London are actively searching out such talent at present. However, to give Cartwright the best possible chance, I'm sure should a possible recruit suddenly become available then we will be paying some or all of these players off. Perhaps that's what they and their agent are waiting for. Either way I think this is a sign that the club are prepared to be ruthless in trying to restructure our team, but at the same time understanding of situations that have been beyond certain players control. It also saves us laying compensation payments out , but Lets face it its not their fault that they were signed in the first place is it?? We all know who that was down to don't we?
It all feels satisfactory for me at present unfortunately fine words big aspirations and raised hopes are we all know from experience the things by which good subscription levels of season tickets are built but the reality out there on the pitch, come the start of the season, we also all know to our cost, is something different altogether. It's always easy to be optimistic when we aint playing anyone.
