| What is fairly undeniable is that our head coach's, from Radders, Lasty, Hodgson, Smith, Grix, and now Cartwright, have seen value in starting Jordan Lane regularly in our starting 13 for several seasons now.
Far more than it appears on here.
But what would head coaches of Hull FC know as opposed to random internet posters on a rugby league forum?

| To be fair to Lane, thought he had loads about him when he first broke through, but when your teams continually fighting a rearguard action season after seaon, well, when are you gonna see the full potential in anyone?

Why do you assume the warning was for me?
It was a general board warning
Are you immune to that warning?

you're obviousl a glass half full type.
`Radders' - 2 good seasons & a lot of dire ones ---- Sacked
Lasty' interim coach, went to Cas' -----Sacked
Hodgson,- crap ----- Sacked.
Smith,- crap ---- Sacked
Grix - poor - inherited a shocking squad which he never looked like improving.
Lanes competition for a starting spot atm is Chamberlain & Fash!. Not hard to
work out why he is always picked.

Yes, a pretty crap set of coach's.
Let's hope Cartwright is the man for the job.
I was one of the few sceptics on here regarding Smith joining, when the majority were getting all excited about an experienced head coach being the final piece of the jigsaw...
Also one of the first opining that Carty was a really good signing.
Will it work out? Who knows. Got hell of a job on, but he's starting from e, so let's hope he can take us to less e.
Oh, and like the ones who have gone before, he'll have Lane playing in the second row.

Jordan must just be a lucky RL player then, with them all previously having a similar mindset of, 'there's no one else.'
He came through under fantastic tutelage of two great pro's in Mini & Sika. Looked stong, ran some great lines and was being overhyped, as usual, about being a future club Captain.
Just saying that if you've spent the last 6 seasons primarily defending in a turd team, then maybe we ain't got to see the best of him.

| Lane played his best rugby under Hodgson, hoping he can get back to those levels under Cartwright, having two decent halves will help him run decent lines, which is his biggest strength

| imagine if we released Lane last season like some wanted, backrow would have been even more depleted.

We couldn't just release him, - he's contracted & we would have had
to pay him off. Why would you? If you haven't anyone else?
If you think Lane is good enough for a starting spot so be it
but its a pretty low bar for a first choice second row.

nobody has said that, have they.
He is however a good squad player, plays big minutes and hardly misses a game. Was fairly good last season.
You did the nail on the head, when you said we haven't anyone else, we are thin in the backrow and the market is hardly awash with quality backrowers.

I too knew smith was never the man for the job. Way past his best plus a smug to$$er who also happened to be the previous coach of the 2 teams I particularly dislike.
cartwright is the right man for the job at Hull, may neve win anything but will lay the groundwork for the future, I said when he was appointed it was good that rowley turned us down in the end

Hate agreeing with you but pretty much my sentiments.
I even made the mistake of softening to him a little bit when I realised he was cr@p and we were fighting a losing battle, yet
again.

I thought that Smith would eventually sort us out and supported him throughout given his previous successes. What I have heard since has surprised me especially the limited fitness training. Plus I think he became more eccentric.
As we do with most new coaches we big them up. However, JC has done simple no talent necessary things like getting players fit. Man management seems good and he has a reputation for having teams who can defend which to me is the essence of winning rugby league. I think Sezer and cust can structure the attack with Ropana/Moy chiming in etc then we can hold our own this season
Agreed again. [/quote:2wu1w14u]
