People questioning Mcrae baffle me. when he came to our club we were a shambles possibly going out of business. That was late 1999 i have a dvd on the 2003 season and we were tremendoes with great vision and pace, the two Smiths, Barnett, Prescott, Best, other players he brought in later Briscoe, Mcmenamy,Swain and more. He left us with a very good academy and exciting squad, Kear took over and won the challenge cup the next season, but with mcraes players.
As supporters, think back to the 2005 league performances under Kear and they were dull at times with the same squad. To say he has won nothing since he left sts is factually correct, but his legacy at Hull is still with us today but fading fast after poor coaching choices. At Salford the directors asked him what position they would finish, he replied how much will you spend and i will tell you. They spend nowhere near the cap, so they are were they are near the bottom. Could any coach have done any better at Salford under the same circumstances ?'"
Nah, you're wrong. McRae inherited a very good squad and won nothing with them, it wasn't until Kear took over that we were any good. Trevor on the radio said so.

| If it is true that Agar offered to resign after the Wakefield home game, then he has gone way up in my estimation.

He inherited a good side???? Did he?? He came down with the gateshead players and had to merge them with a very poor Hull side. He made important decisions on which players to keep and which to cull - there were some odd good players in that side, but some absolute guff (ben sammut, Ian herron) so to say he inherited a good side is wrong.
Actually, apart from the likes of Cooke, Horne, King etc - none of the side that used to entertain us like they did in 2003/2004 were 'inherited'

Agree with the above. You only have to look at the squad he inherited as it was then to the squad he left us with, they were poles apart. He may not have won any trophies but McRae turned the club round from an awful team that was on its knees and it one of the reasons why it is the club it is today. He had faith in Horne & Cooke as youngsters to make the grade. We moved so far forward from 2000 during his tenure then slowly started to slip back from the top teams to now even been behind Catalans, Warrington, Huddersfield.
Agar may well be a top bloke and top coach and tried his best but in all honesty as a Head Coach for Hull FC it just hasn't worked for him.

| Talk about been the highlight of the season. And there was little old me thinking the highlight of the season would be the start of the cheerleader thread in a month or so.
Welcome back Bomber and thanks Mr Agar for saving me the cost of this seasons season ticket. I wonder if McRea will grow his tash again now he is back at Hull. I still think he looks odd without it.
