Paul Duffen did a good job and he didn't even own the place.

| beware of greeks (or whatever) bearing gifts ?
he keeps saying he wants to give something back to the city ?
bull, he's a buisness man and he's seen a chance to make lots of money (good on him)
what worries me is we could end up with another David Lloyd saga where one man can control who can and cannot play at HIS ground ?
i'm only glad that he has not bought into Hull FC (yet)

I don't think for one minute that he would buy into Hull FC. I don't think theres enough money in RL to entice him. He'll stick to wendy ball were the money banded araound is outrageous.

| Its a political fix for problem shame only a few a have seen through it
Now the Allams have to put up and come up with an offer or shut up and the feeling is the offer he has in mind is a lot less then what the council will except. All we have had for months is the media whore of city turning up the heat, all the Labour leadership has done is slap the pan on the gas and asked the Allams to stick something in it.
If it goes to a referendum it will be those who live in the city as this authority owns it , no one else and that will effectively cut the city vote due to many city supporters living out side the city. Add to that any money recieved from the sale can not be used to keep council taxes down or keep open schools, care home sor music schools. The money will have to be spent on capital projects, like the KC itself or new schools like the one planned over the Boulevard. In these austere times I can see the present government denying Hull council leave to spend any money on anything and the money will sit in banks alongside most of the money from council house sales.
There are so many if and buts with this and the Wail have latched on to the one thing they can as the labour group are not giving them any "exclusives" unlike Middlesborough Minns. This will turn out to be a bag of dog dirt for a few people and I can predict it will not be Steve Brady, sure he was watched KR and loves the game. He is not stupid and knows that the majority of the city is black and white, he is not going to alienate them three days into a new council is he .................

whether he is or not i still don't see an issue here. We'll have a tenancy agreement and if he does want to break it and kick us out he'll owe us compensation and we build our own stadium. I've got no issues with a cash injection into Hull City Council.

In either case we'd be owed compensation. The Allams will not want to kick FC out of the stadium. As i said, they will not want to lose a major revenue stream.

You're being naive. The amount we pay would be dwarfed by income for city if they get back in the premiership and there is no such thing as a watertight tenancy agreement

| What are the scenarios here? I'm assuming that City and FC are the only clubs involved as Rovers are progressing their own ground.
1) Allams don't buy KC stadium as council declines. Allams build a stadium at Melton for City only. FC left as sole tenants at KC with probably inaffordable costs.
2) Allams don't buy KC stadium as council declines. Allams build a stadium at Melton for City and FC to share. KC stadium left as white elephant.
3) Allams buy KC stadium for City to use only. FC compensated but need to build own stadium.
4) Allams buy KC stadium for continued use by both clubs. FC presumably get shafted for a share of the extension costs on top of current SMC payments.
None of these look particularly attractive from our POV.

Not naive at all mate. As Mrs B has just highlighted there are a number of options open should anything happen with the KC.

| Quote: old frightful "I've said before, elsewhere, that IMO the only reason the Allams rescued Hull City was to give themselves chance to own the KC and develop the land around there.
The publication of the HDM with them on the front, purporting to be holding plans up of a new stadium out at Melton, was laughable IMO and an attempt to put the possible sale in the minds of the council.
Hull City Council spent £47million building that stadium, it's less than ten years' old, and I bet they'd only get around a third of that in the sale.
I do worry when one of the first things a new incoming council leader says is "We'll let the people of Hull decide whether to sell the KC or not."
Sounds to me like he fancies running a council with some cash to play with.'"
Spot On
I don't believe his "I'm doing this for the people of hull"
He may be worth so many millions but how much has he got in the bank and what would happen if his business went under

I meant naive to believe we're in a strong position because we have a tenancy agreement. they could lock us out and the only recourse we would have would be a long and expensive legal battle

Scenario 5) Call his bluff. Don't sell. Allam will be refused the Melton development due to planning restraints and can't afford it anyway. The whole point of buying the KC is to give him borrowing power. The status quo is maintained.
I feel scenario 4 is the most likely outcome, though. Trouble ahead depending on how much Brady wants to sell and how gullible the people of Hull are... oh dear.

| The last scenario (no sell, Allan can't afford to build) I think is equally likely
