I didn't realise he had such difficulties and to be honest i thought the kid was not that great, that said fair do's to him for having a crack at it....most of us wouldn't even dare!

I took the p*ss out of the kid as he was singing (and afterwards) too. Obviously I didn't know he had learning difficulties at the time. Lay off the OP, it was an easy mistake to make.

I did say Chris sounded a tad 'Sheepy'.......And I detest the Will Young warble in any singer. I'm sure Chris wouldn't mind a bit of constructive critism........With todays 'sound' at a major singing comp......The press would've slaughtered him anyway......FACT!!!! The announcer mearly said that he was the winner. There was more black and white than red and white in my row, and everyone said the same as the original poster, embarrasing. Nobody was aware of any learning difficulties.

All you self righteous types, answer me this:

If you didn't know the guy had learning difficulties and you thought he was just the half time entertainment/RL factor winner, can you honestly say you wouldn't have said anything negative about his singing?

It's easy to be holier than thou if you know the full story, but people pass comment on our pre-match/half time entertainment all the time - usually in a negative way - without any of the backlash they've had today.

That counts me out then.......At least i'm honest....he did sound 'Sheepy'!!!!

And i certainly wouldn't have tried to be as sarcastic as the OP about someone who has just sang in front of over 22k people.

Whether or not you would have started a thread about it is immaterial. People are having a go at the OP for laying into the kid because he has learning difficulties. But if he didn't know that, it's hardly his fault.

The point I'm making is, if the guy didn't have learning difficulties and he was just booked to be the half time entertainment, he would have fallen below the standard we could reasonably expect.

Do his learning difficulties affect his singing ability? That's a genuine question.

If the answer is 'no', why should the guy be afforded any more margin for error than someone without learning difficulties? Isn't that just a little bit patronising and condescending? Essentially it's saying that you have lower expectations of that person, which is not a good attitude to have.

The lad deserves credit for going out there. It takes alot of guts to do that. Well played to him.

i enjoyed his songs tbh and the kid has guts i bet you p!!s takers wud not have the guts to go out there and sing in front of a crowd that size
