I think if he were to have a sustained period of time outside a quality right centre, we could see a very good winger.

Up to now, all he has had is one temporary fill-in centre after another.

I actually have tears running down my face, laughing at how brain dead most of you are.

He has great pace, usually beats his first man, always gives 100% and I feel he genuinely wants to improve. I think with a good centre inside him and a better coach he can progress further. Players improve all the way through their career.

It seems Wigan are about to sign Gareth Thomas, now I am aware Gareth comes with a lot of media interest which Wigan will want to tap into...but the fact they want to sign a 37 year old RU convert who's recent injury record isn't great shows the lack of talent available at the moment IMO.

The rumour is that he is salary cap exempt due to the publicity he brings.

If you go back there and read a little more carefully, you'll find that they're all having a great laugh at our new signing. Just as we would be if they had carried out such an uninspiring bit of business.

Murphy has just signed for the Giants so there was a quality centre available who is British, must also be a huge kick in the teeth for Turner the signing of Martin.

Perhaps Murphy didn't want to sign a one year contract and we want hell of alot better than Murphy anyways.

I doubt he would have done but there was better a player than Martin available to sign and Murphey is certainly one of them.

Shall we all just wait and see. All these negative comments must make him feel really welcome. Surely the time for any criticism (if needed) will be after we see him perform in our colours.

Yeah, Murphy is a better player but like I said, why would Murphy want to sign for us when he knows we'd be looking at a top player in 2013? Whereas Martin at 33, this will probably be his last contract before he retires.
Very much doubt there was any chance we could of signed a young player such as Murphy for just one season.

Well said, what do we know he may be there just as back up and maybe mentoring Turner and Crooks in centre play, he may only get a couple of games. Judge him as you say 10 games in IF he plays.

You have people on here claiming there are no other players available when clearly there is.

Our recruitment has been ok, the good thing is we know that players like Withers, O'Hara are already settled in this country and have adapted to SL.

yes there is, hence why Martin has signed a 1 yr deal. We needed to replace Gleeson but no one available this year or anywhere near as good. Martin is a good solid centre, no frills, only plays that position and has cost us hardly anything for the season so makes sense. people have to remember to have some faith in the new regime, we cant build a top 2 side overnight.

Murphy is a young unproven player who gets vastly overrated. We have young centres, maybe the club wanted experience?

So what? Plenty of players come straight over and make an impact. Id take our recruitment over yours by a distance.
