Spiritual home.
You get your facts wrong and still have a childish dig when it's pointed out, just petty minded as usual.
If you have ever made a single post that was constructive to a discussion without some sort of cheap and petty dig or attempt at derailing a thread i would be amazed.
I know i can make you a foe and ignore your posts, but then you still have to wade through all the replies.
Why is he still allowed to post on here when it's all just digs and derailing of threads, i love a bit of banter it's amusing but this isn't that.

The problem is he (the council) is still talking about a referendum.
My guess is Allam would win - city supporters will vote yes, rovers supporters will vote yes for the wrong reasons, and hull supporters will vote no.
Large numbers won't be bothered and probably wouldn't vote anyway.
A 30% turnout (I assume only 18+ can vote) is maybe 80,000. I'm sure Allam would get his way.
And I guess the East Riding won't get a vote either.
I suppose the key issue is whether the council would be allowed to run a referendum.

Brady says he will call a referendum about the future of the stadium "if an offer comes in". I presume this to mean Allam offering to pay the Council £x million for the stadium, not offering to take it off their hands for nothing. To be fair if he were to offer to buy it for its market value it probably should be sold to him but I can't see many council tax payers voting for it to be given to him or sold for peanuts.

I read the article to mean that a referendum would be done once a realistic offer for the stadium had been received, which as of yet, hasn't happened. The vote would then be down to the people of Hull to sell or not.
The council aren't just going to give this crackpot the KC and surrounding land for free on the back of some 'sports village' claptrap, & watch him boot Hull FC out, which is basically what Allam's 'offer' was.

Indeed.
Frankly by the time any offer has been made and accepted and a referendum has been organised City could have been relegated.
Also remember that if Allam does ever buy the freehold of the stadium he buys it subject to our sub-lease.

| The part i struggle to fully understand, and apologies if it has been mentioned previously.
But who owns the SMC and employs the people to run it?
Thought it was the council or am i misguided there?

Adam Wild @Adam_Wild Slightly confused about #hcafc celebrations. Are Allams really trying to exclude the council... by holding it at a council-owned stadium?

I am getting a little irritated now. Why cannot Allam just put in a concrete offer and proposal or shut his mouth? At least then, even the most one eyed fan on either side, could formulate a reasoned decision. Put up or shut up Allam.

So the council own the stadium but employ a company (SMC) owned by Allam to run it?
How long is the contract with the SMC ? Any ideas?

Setting aside all the drama, tantrums and inter-club bickering, this for me is, in the long term the issue that underlies any potential problems.
It is, loosely, a Blairite solution. The orthodoxy is/was that the private sector 'does' risk well. IMO this is in large part, because, unlike the public sector, when things turn sour they can walk away more easily. The motivation of profits plays a role too, but when they become a more distant prospect they prefer not to hang around.
Now [iif[/i the stadium isn't going to be self-sustaining as it ages, the council potentially faces a problem. The way they reacted when the Allam's suggested handing back SMC control [isuggested to me[/i that they didn't fancy it. If it happens, it would primarily be a council problem rather than one for Hull FC, though you might catch a little bit of the splatter.
In a public-private partnership, if there is ever a poop-end of the stick it is invariably the public partner that ends up holding it.
Rovers, Craven Park, North stand, skint etc - similar thing.
If they share my view, and they very well may not of course, I expect the council would actually like to transfer ownership fully. For a whole host of reasons they can't give it away, so I suspect they're going to be denied that opportunity.

| The stadium is easily capable of generating sufficient profit to cover upkeep and repairs however the previous 2 owners haven't seen fit to do so and allam is now using this as bargaining chip in his quest for the site.
As I've said many times, I think he'll get it at some point and the response from brady indicates that the council are willing to sell if the price is right. it would be a dark day for our club if it does happen and any lease agreement we have would be inconsequential if he wanted us out
