we should of signed an overseas 7 from austrlia eg seymour rather then signing another hooker, so now danny houghton is only going to get about 40 mins a game again

thats exactly why we brought in sam obst to allow danny to have 20 or so mins a game breather and to back up the 7 posistion

There are players who can play 6 & 7 available for next season both in SL and the NRL. For instance we could sign a british forward to replace Fitz/Lauaki and still use the quota spot and Longy's money to sign a half.

Not that I am writing Longy off just yet.

I agree.There is surely a british prop available,who we could go for,even if we have to pay a small fee?As for the halves now,i reckon everyone can forget about Chase,as we are in more need of a 7,to replace Long.

We don't want Longy hear next year though Paul, I'd rather have Ellis playing week in and week out than Longy for 6 games.

Longs ratio for playing must be worse than Dykes.

We need a half with a kicking game and the ability to get a team around the park. Doesn't matter if its a 6 or 7.

Plus at least whenever Dykes played he was 1 of our best players.

If Dykes had have been fit he would have been the best 7 in the league at the time.

I was getting at the fact that when Long plays he is nothing special anyway.

Which is why i think we need a 7 more than a 6,as there aren't many 6's around with a decent kicking game,plus,we can use Horne,Obst,and hopefully Danny Nicklas in this area.A 7 is a must,unless we plan on using Ellis as starting 7,but which i would doubt.

id give ellis the role,no point in signing him if we are not going to play him.lets give youth a chance.

Chase has a good kicking game. I understand what your saying, 7's are historically better kickers. But you'd referred to Chase, he has what we need imo. Stick Horne in the 7 shirt alongside him, or Ellis.
All irrelevant though.
