agree 100%, BUT, we mustn't get into a mentality of seeing no ill in players just because they are "local lads" or a product of our youth scheme, the days of sentiment at FC need to come to an abrupt end (and I believe they have)

Doesn't every squad need to have at least a certain number of club trained players in it (8 I think)? So although you're right, home grown players are more important than fed trained players from elsewhere.

You are right about club trained players, but Standee is also right about the over hyping of "local lads". In the past there was far to much expectation put on the shoulders on the likes of Lee, Washbrook, Lyne etc. There was far too much blinkered sentiment on the likes of Paul King. If we want a team which can be considered as genuine contenders then the mentality of wanting "local lads" needs to change to one of wanting champion players.

This is great news finally some of our youth coming up.

Brilliant news he has the potential to be top class hopefully over the next 18 months we will see him as a regular in the first team.

This is great news. He's going to develop into an excellent player. I do still think Gentle will start Arundel ahead of him next year. But competition for places is what we need.

Hopefully with Turner leaving and another full time pre-season under Crooks belt he will make the 'backup' centre spot his own.

What also needs to happen, is that these players are mentored, and guided away from the 'distractions' that seem to have enticed some of their predecessors from the straight and narrow, and seen some promising careers go by the way.
