| Stress has effects on the body and mental health of people who are suffering from it.
The last thing someone who is stresed needs is for their employer to turn around and dump them.
So the club are doing the right thing. Well done
I hope Martin all the best no matter what happens.

Would love to know these FACT you reckon we all know.
I couldn't give a monkies for the reasons behind his illness, but having been close to people who have had stress related issues you realise the term stress is not an appropriate descrition. Its not that long ago it used to be termed a nervous breakdown.
For Martin and his family, I hope he manages to over come this sooner rather than later.

| Quote R.B.A="R.B.A"The reasons for his "stress" precede his contract with Hull FC. They will have clauses written into it i would imagine.'"
You have no evidence whatsoever as to why Martin is stressed and you should be very careful with the insinuations you are making. I am sure Hull do have clauses in his contract, they alluded to this when he signed. However suffering with stress won't be one of them. The guy is ill and the club are supporting him and the fans for the moment seem to be behind that.
Suffering from stress is not a wrong doing on his part so he will rightly still be paid and be supported until he is ready to return or not whichever the case may be.
That post was dangerously close to landing you a ban, moderator or not. If you can not post on this thread within the rules then i'd suggest not to bother.

| Some great sentiments here but Just for the benifit of those who still wish to think the worst, the Daily Mail today states,
'Whilst the Mail cannot disclose the full details of the illness it has nothing to do with alcohol or failing a drugs test. Gleeson is not suffering any sort of injury He has not been in a fight or breached his contract with Hull Fc'
'in an effort to protect Gleesons Privacy the club have contacted the RL to enlist their help'
'To their credit the club wil not discuss the situation with anyone'
Mods this is an exact quote and is in the publc domain thanks to James Smailes.

| I have just finished studying a sports psychology course at University, and stress, anxiety are more common than people can imagine. Every player, employee will be subject to stress or anxiety at some point to varying degrees throughout their careers. Sadly many will receive no expert help or guidance through psychological interventions by educational sports psychologists or in severe cases by clinical sports psychologists.
I have no idea what lengths the RFL, our club, or any club in fact go to help players, but it appears they are actually making an efffort to help Martin. I hope they will help him to the maximum and seek expert help to fascilitate his recovery.
I applaud the club ( and I haven't been doing that much recently ) for helping Martin, and beg them to continue helping him, and all our players to the maximum.
Get Well Martin

stress isn't an issue for a sports psychologist, hopefully he is receiving counselling and psycotherapy, I sincerely hope he is getting whatever he feels he needs.
