Tomorrow will be a special occasion for Horney but i reckon it'll be all the more special due to the calibre of some of the players we've signed this season who will be taking part.

Are we not in danger of going a bit overboard on the Fitzgibbon love in? Let's be honest, he's been a very good NRL and international; not a legend. It's not as if we've signed an Andrew Johns, Darren Lockyer or a Sterlo.

I am sure he will do a good job for us; but lets not delude ourselves that he is the messiah! He's an aging player who has come over for a last challenge with the bonus of a decnt payday.

Got to say, I'm really looking forward to seeing Long, Fitzgibbon and O'Meley running out in the black and white.

I remember having the same anticipation waiting for Jason Smith to play. Now that guy was a Master.

Very cynical. Nothing in his manner shows hes here for a "decnt payday" (sic). He's a true professional and we've missed that since Kearney left. His experience will be invaluable to players like Burnett and Washy. His stint at Hull will pay dividends for years.

Sums it up for me. Fitz and Longy may be getting to the end of their careers but both are proven winners. We need that, desperately.

From Fitz I'm expecting; solid, fully committed, inspiring and influential with a no nonsense approach - Nothing more, and most importantly - Nothing less.

I'm not disputing that he is a very very good player; and, like you, everything I have heard from him and about him from players I know within the camp has been extremely positive. I also agree that he will have a good effect on our younger players; but I do feel we a building him up to have been an all time great when he just hasn't been.

To suggest he was sitting on Bondi or Coogee beach and thought "I'd prefer to be on Hessle Foreshore" is laughable. He's come for the cash, the new challenge and the chance to play for one of the greatest league teams in the world, in a city that loves the sport. To suggest cash played no part is naive; and that's not a critisicism; who amonst us would turn down the opportunity to get paid more for our job?

Obviously there's a lot of truth in your assessment of why players come to sunny Hull, but he is a genuine club-man and I expect that he will give his all to our club until we don't want him anymore - if he has the impact I expect, I would like that to be for a few more seasons to come. It would be surprising if we don't take him to our hearts and vice versa.
