I am more than happy with that goal tbh...however we will need to make a few astute signings next year to reach that goal over the next 2/3 yrs imo.

Agreed it would seem to be a very achieveable aim over the next 2/3 years, as it will take that amount of time to assemble a squad capable of challenging. Anyone who thinks we will be title contenders next season need a reality check.

People seem to think that clubs can afford not to sign players like Martin.

Huddersfield have signed Phil Joseph ffs and Tony Tonks, both of which were shocks to the fans but both will be very good players on quite small salaries who will do what is asked of them.

Why is Tony Martin, a model pro with vast experience, such a bad thing? Nobody at the club has come out and said he is the man Hull will build a team around, he is simply a good old pro who will be low cost and hopefully high value.

Wow, what a poor signing Tony Martin is! I know there was rumours we we're after Lyon etc, but we surely must of known someone like that wasn't going to come this season. But to go from Lyon to Martin is a disappointment. Like I said before someone like Joel Reddy e.g would of been a realistic signing surely?

Also, Mickey Paea signing for Rovers is a great signing for them and someone who I would like to see at Hull. They seem to think his brother will be signing for them next season, perhaps we should jump in and get him first with Moa likely going home

I wasn't daft enough to believe in the Lyon/Gasnier/Jennings silly talk, but I have to say I do find this underwhelming. We really could do with an ace up our sleeves for the remaining signing IMO.

He's a seasoned professional, who IMO isn't any worse than our current players. What he does have over our current right hand side is experience.
Whether you think Turner/Whiting/Crooks could do the same job or not, it's hardly a statement of our intent for 2012. I think the fact we forked our thousands for Andy Lynch is more indicative our intent tbh.
It's a 1 year deal, the obvious conclusion to draw is it's a stop gap until 2013. I'm sure I've read somewhere , might have been an interview with Bomber, that we have irons in the fire for 2013.

While I'm not exactly doing cartwheels over this signing I'm willing to give the bloke the benefit of the doubt and see how he goes. I'm certainly not 'disgusted', 'horrified' or any other absurd hyperbole.

If there's no one out there who we want surely it's better to get Martin on a cheap one year deal then someone who's just as average but on a 2 year deal . Who's to say the overseas signing who turned us down last week hasn't agreed to come over for 2013 . He's not the best but there's been some very odd and ordinary signings already . Moore at Leeds Thomas at Wigan etc

I think the club are just buying some time for Turner. Perhaps Gentle thinks he can make him into the centre we need.

Interestingly Bomber spoke highly of Turner on sky the other week..Personally I hope the kid can develop further.
