| I've give he club much stick over the last few years (most of which I still feel was justified) and this year is the first time in approx 20 years without a pass but I'll be giving them another chance on Friday.
The Rovers game last week was a good example of the jeckl and Hyde nature of HullFC, the first 60mins was dire, dreary stuff that has driven thousands of fans away, the last 20 showed flair, commitment and effort that will get the fans back. It's up to the players and coach to keep this run going and repair the damage caused of years of decline.

The Wakefield game was dreadful to watch but at least we won and maybe their recent form puts our performance into context.

| Quote: knockersbumpMKII "As mentioned by BombedOut, the massive disappointment and the way we played over the last two seasons almost getting relegated after a cup final season have driven folk to making other life choices and to what they spend their money and time on.
For someone to label others as not "proper Hull FC fans" or "fickle fans" for making a personal choice is ludicrous and pompous especially given the carp served up especially under Agar and latterly Radford.
And yes attendances were still high under Agar but that showed how loyal those fans you now label as "not proper fans" were.
Poop on the field, no success (again), false promises by new owner and importantly undermining a level of improvement with yet again an unproven cheap option has proven to be very, very costly.
Will some fans come back, of course...if we continue in this vein, will we get back to regular 13/14k home gates, no, it'll take at least a season or two of success or at the very least really competing and playing good rugby.
One point to make, scientific studies show that playing at home is no real advantage, in fact can be detrimental due to expectation of fans and pressures that can put on players. It isn't proven that cheering home crowds motivate players/professional sportspeople any more than they would normally display in front of empty terraces.
Not that cheering when we are winning/making a comeback is bad for the fans scientifically at least there's evidence to support it makes little difference to increase performance.'"
1. When did we nearly get relegated? I must have missed that one.
2. Show me the link to the "scientific study" with regards to home advantage. If playing at home has no advantage then why of the 10 sporting divisions that I have just referenced do 80% of all teams have a better home record? You are quoting rhetoric with no basis on fact.

| Quote: Offy "Not me I'm afraid.
I'm a stay away fan, and will be for the foreseeable future, but that's purely because of family reasons.
But if purple are stating away because of boring rugby, i think it's about time you start going again, from what I've seen and heard, it's been some exciting stuff
on a side note, what great noise and great following by the black and white army again last night
Personally I would not class you as a stay away fan if there are outside factors involved as to why you cannot go. Its more those who choose to stay away I am thinking of.
for several years I was, lets say, geographically challenged and it was impossible for me to attend. It did not stop me supporting the club though.
I sort of get those who quote the last two years results / performances. That said, when Radford was appointed, was it not the case that Pearson stated that the club had been poorly managed (no youth set up) and that those he trusted (McRae / Gentle) had given out very generous contracts and there would be a period of time to sort this out. Not such a case of a transitional period, but a clearing of drift wood?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but those who have said in the past "I won't go again until Radford is out" would surely be cutting their noses off to spite their faces?
Of the games we have lost, Cas were the better side on the night, Wigan took the points off a brain fart of an off load, Widnes wiped the flour with us. We then do what we needed to do against Wakey, did rovers in the best comeback win I have seen, Wire were 100%, St's away is never a gimme.
I would urge those who are undecided to back the team and the club this Friday against Hudds.

| Quote: knockersbumpMKII "I think It IS pompous and lazy to label fans fickle, how can you know any one persons individual circumstances, even if they can afford to come why is it wrong to not want to watch rubbish and be continually dissapointed and then come back when the entertainment/feel good factor returns?'"
Here's a dictionary definition of fickle:
"changeable, inconsistent; inconstant in one's affections"
What's pompous and lazy about defining supporters who only attend when the team is winning as the above ? It's exactly the right definition. Nobody is saying it's wrong to be changeable or inconsistent with support - but there's no denying that there are several thousand people who fall into this category. It's the same at most clubs and always has been and will be. People who fall into that category shouldn't be too sensitive about being labelled as fickle. In the same way diehards shouldn't worry about being labelled in that way. It's diehards who keep clubs afloat when they are not doing well. That's undeniable.

| Yet the diehards are often classed as the happy clappers by a few on here.

I also think the same could be applied to the display against rovers, they were actually very good for that first hour and they have followed it up with 2 good performances, how many teams could pull that game out of the fire.

1. If you want to ignore what happened in 2014 that's up to you. 1 point in front of Wakey and a Bradford side in administration plus 6 points off with little to play for toward the end having to offload players left right and centre but yeah we were outstanding!!
2. Don't be so lazy and find the study yourself, it isn't hard to find. It was done on the US.
Basic understanding of human behaviour tbh.

1. Your statement referenced relegation.....at what point did we come close?
2. You made a statement that there is no benefit to home advantage. Now you are referencing basic understanding of human behaviour? Make your mind up. There clearly is an advantage to playing at home....the facts and statistics make this easy for those who are not trying to appear intellectual to see.

Who said we were outstanding? Are you totally incapable of having an adult conversation?
We were twelve points clear of Bradford. Even without their points deduction we'd have been six points clear of them.
By your rationale we were also nearly 7th.

Everyone knew London and Bradford were for the drop that year. There was never a period were anyone thought we were going to drop, spare a few of the doom and gloom brigade.

Ffs can we give the let's all have a go at knockers thread a miss for a change.
And realistically relegation was a possibility that year and had London and Bradford not been in their critical situations,so who knows what would have happened, thankfully we survived.
I thought this might have been a positive thread for a change.
All we need to do is enjoy our little bubble whilst it lasts and if and when it does pop it's not a dire performance that has defined our recent history.
With positive performances irrespective of being on the right side of the scoreline all the time this should bring the feel good factor and fans back that have been missing for too long now.

| The stay away fans will come back in dribs & drabs, the team is worthy of more fans at the minute, they are playing how the glory supporters want them to, so no reason not to have a few more through the turnstiles.

| Well the only way they'll get me there regularly is if they move the KC about 300 miles north, but I'll be there whenever I can.
