| Quote ="hullbg"They have gone for players they are not too likely to get, Myler was never going to leave Wire. [uChase has not even been approached by all accounts and no offers made[/u. Sammut we may have had a chance with, but the player has 2 years of a contract still to run which would mean the likelihood of us signing him were slim.
We have no idea if the offers for players were even remotely realistic, but the fact offers were made sends out the right noises to fans. I am not saying this is what happened but it is definitely a possibility.
Do i want us to panic buy? No of course not, but it was apparent pretty early on last season that we needed decent halfback cover which is ample time to bring somebody in.'"
Think you might just be wrong there paul,i would say hes been at the very top of agars list,as the saying goes,if at first you dont suceed then try try again,i dont think arthur bunting got toppo at his first attempt,as a matter of fact he never got him at the 2nd attempt, but guess what.
he eventualy got his man
im not saying we will get him but you never know, just wonder if the club could be very crafty and announce a signing or two before the forum on wednesday cos i reckon they will be expecting a barrage of questions from the fans re half back situation etc,but then again if chase or sammut doesnt materialise then he may want to save the cash and stick with players he has got till the right people become available,i reckon nicklas is a star of the future.
If there isnt any new players coming in for the start of the season ill say one thing it wont of been for the want of trying.

| Rumours are that the Roosters are looking to offload Braith Anasta again. Apparently Parramatta have said no to signing him. Different class to Sammut, and would be well worth an enquiry on our part. Fantastic kicking game and a good organiser.

iv seen alot of Nicklas and he has got talent but not seen anything to suggest he's going to be a star , The should be questions raised aswell about the half back situation because yes they have tried to sign players but other clubs have gone out and got players in .Were going to be stuck with Washy as the back up option again or turner .

would of been a great signing earlier in the off season.
Visa would mean a long wait.

Like I said I never claim to have insider knowledge on anything, I was just putting a twist on things. Hope you are correct and we get one of Chase or Sammut though. Won't be enough to see us achieve any success but it would be a step in the right direction.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment, it's another season and another year of everyone's life piissed away so I think we'd all rather agar actually proved he could coach (which he can't, so he won't).
Didn't the club state at the last forum that finding some half back cover was the number one priority this off season? Seems strange that we've signed a winger and a back rower if that was the case

As someone said recently, brian noble signed 3 half backs for crusaders last year when operating on a shoestring that would all have done better than what we had last year

A little short term pain for a long term gain is how id put it. Or would you prefer a repeat of last season with no real progression and then have Agar in charge the season after too?

I have an increasing suspicion that is exactly the scenario that awaits us in 2011/12. Agar seems bulletproof. Whatever my own personal misgivings about his occupancy as our head coach, I'm increasingly resigned to him seeing out his contract and possibly even beyond

Well said . Other sides do it why can`t we? Hull FC seem to be adverse to signing quality in the halfback role.
Trying to throw cash around with a few weeks until the season starts is a joke. Crusaders are right to hold us to ransom. Hull have cash but it`s the worst kept secret in SL that we need a quality No7.
Berrigan should not have been released until a quality halfback was secured.
We can only pray that Long stays fit. Hornes fitness is a major concern . Both seem unable to string a sequence of games together.

I think agar is one of the least at risk coaches in SL. If season pass sales had dropped significantly then the situation might have been different. As it is, unless we do disastrously, then he'll still be here in 12 months time

Why should he be at risk ? in the last three seasons we've progressively got more points and last year should have got 4th with no halfbacks for most of the season, he's building a decent young squad and signed some quality overseas players, he seems to be disliked by most people on this board, but imo has done a half decent job, if you put him up against say Mcnamara and what they've managed to achieve over the last few years, then he puts the current GB coach to shame, alot of people might not like his style of play, but he seems to have us on the right track if you judge seasons by performances and points.

You see it how you want. I see one of the biggest clubs in the game who are a million miles away from being genuine contenders, who bottled ever big game they played in last season and who win games by boring the other team into submission. I also saw a team who were spanked twice by wigan, lost 3 times to leeds, couldn't even beat warrington a week before wembley and who bent over and let themselves get bummed by rovers in the play offs.
I don't even think we're in the same country as the right track

| The club knew last season Berrigan was going and if they didnt then Plummer is still doing our accounts!
We have had more time than people think to get the sort of player we want yet for some reason havent been able to.
