Is it just me or does anyone else think Raynor just simply wont look right in red and white 'High School Musical' shirt next season ?

We going to go into the season without anyone wearing the number 5 shirt? Or will a new player get it or Briscor perhaps assigned the shirt?

Having not really read the forum that much, this has come from nowhere for me.

Not gonna go down the whole "hes a crim bull" , anyone would think you people are perfect, FFS you live in Hull. As a Rugby player he was great and probably the best winger I've seen at the club since I've being a fan.

A shame to see Gareth leave in such circumstances.

His departure leaves us a little light on experience in the three quarters. Calderwood, Yeaman, Hall and Briscoe looks very good on paper but we really cannot afford injury problems.

He was a fine servant to the club ON the field but the forthcoming trial aside, Raynor let us down with his stupid behaviour off the field so I'm a little ambivalent about this news.

Couldn't agree more mate, hasn't done himself any favours off the field and he'll no doubt pay for that, but when on form and playing injury free I doubt you'll have seen many players in black & white more committed, these last 2 or 3 years.

Personally Wilf I hope we strenghten our back division before the season starts (in fact asap). To me we were already a little light in the backs anyway, I'm not suggesting we just sign anyone just for the sake of it but hopefully we will identify the individual we want and pursue him. This policy of waiting until the season starts/see how we go always seems a little bit half d/lazy to me. If we've got the money to prize someone from their current club then why not, others do it, it's about time we were a bit more aggresive in the transfer market.

Im with wilf, sit tight and wait, however if we could secure Ainscough would snap him up asap, will be a very good player and see a lot of raynor in him tbh

But anyone who comes in is going to behind calderwood and Briscoe to satrt with, the only worry i have is Tom's injury record as he has picked up 2 bad injuries in both seasons and still needs to get a full season under his belt

on one hand Raynor has been a great try scorer for the club...but on the other he is 31, has a court case (that would have no doubt impacted on his form) looming, a persistent toe injury, and Briscoe/Hall can cover his position.

I do think we need to bring in another back now though, but finding one of enough quality will be an issue

i'd have thought one of the higher earners, as his deal was signed when he was playing for GB, and Hull have stated several times that they pay internationals more (such as in the Cooke/Briscoe issues)

but if we have agreed a severance deal, then i'm unsure whether we'd have used any remaining cap from last year, or whether it will impact this years cap

Still money left after his severence, raynor has been a great player for us and always gave his all on the pitch for us that never been in question, its his off the field antics that have let him down badly, i fully expect him to join hkr tbh

Wingers: Calderwood, Tom Briscoe, Hall, Tuffour, Jack Briscoe, Lyne, Morrison

I'd say after Hall, our options for wingers become weak in terms of experience. I'd still risk going into the season as we are. If we are going to harp on about these talented youngsters, lets use them where needed. We know Calderwood, Jack Briscoe and Hall can perform very well for us, and there is plenty of potential in the other names. I'd be cautious with regards to spending money just because we have it to spend. The cap is only a guideline, not a goal to try to achieve. If we keep Raynor's 80k approx. aside, we then go into 2011 with that salary, plus potentially a large chunk from a number of players who are expiring at end of 2010, then we have a number of options for the future, whilst also staying strong for the current season. We've not had Raynor on the pitch consistently in previous seasons, so losing him isn't as big a loss as it would have been a few seasons ago. Calderwood and Tom Briscoe will do very well indeed.

Think we might be one player short in the backs now. Someone who can play centre and winger would be useful.

Its always sad when players get a career threatening Cartridge (sp) problem.
