| I see threads like this and it makes me cringe! The clubs mouth piece in full on pro propaganda mode!
Another way of looking at it is super league on the whole is pretty yet the current top two teams have put over 120 points on us in the last month yet were operating at over full cap, cant win without a player who retired eighteen months ago and are miles away from being a top side in a very average super league
The fact that Baristas bumchums love to start crowing when weve just had over 60 put on us is just laughable

Play nicely please Seb. Plenty were expecting Lee to be gone by today, yet here we are with the same points as Castleford for goodness' sake. How marvellous given the injuries we've had. Maybe resurrect your Costa Concordia analogy, that played out beautifully x

Didn't Francesco Schettino accidentally fall into that lifeboat full of women and children.
I reckon theres a few on here who could give him a run for his money. ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif)

| I’m not a happy clapper (and still not totally convinced by LR), but a bit of perspective is needed.
It was apparent early on that this was going to be a transitional season.
The heavy defeats are really disappointing, but we’ve had equal highs in the Catalan and Good Friday games. Plus we’ve signed up our playmaker for three more years.
I’m not unhappy where we are. Top five would be an achievement for me, with some proactive recruitment taking place, which will fill in the gaps which are clearly evident.

A great balanced view here - I couldn't have put it any better. Well said!

| I also think if we were unbeaten and sitting on top of the league, it would kill some posters in here.

You're joint 6th now, if results go as you predict and end up 6th, at least you aren't getting any worse.. ![Smile icon_smile.gif](images/smilies//icon_smile.gif)

Again - can't disagree! I think some posters are only happy when there's something to criticise (Oh oh, I may now be accused of being someone's 'bumchum') ![EH eusa_eh.gif](images/smilies//eusa_eh.gif)

Like I say, there’s always something to moan about. I’m as guilty as that as anyone. Sometimes though you have to take a step back and acknowledge what we have.
We’ve retained our big hitters, made a few errors in recruitment and retention this year which will hopefully be put right next year.
We’re one of a few English clubs that can regularly attract crowds over five figures
We’ve also got an owner who I don’t believe will settle for being second best.
We’re not perfect, but we do get a lot right.

| What we have produced so far is just about borderline acceptable. We have put in a handful of good performances but also embarrassed ourselves a few times. I know you can only beat what's in front of you as they say, but I can't help but feel we are only in this position by default due to other teams problems. Wakefield and Cas have had it just as bad if not worse with injuries, and don't have the resources we do, yet are ahead of us. The quality across the league is poor and third place is there for the taking.
Not impressed but not too disappointed either. At least we are there or there abouts, but we need to find another gear in the second half of the year.

Great summary. Shaul, Sneyd, Connor, Griffin, Carlos (and maybe Kelly) signed up, good nucleus of backs there. The forwards needs some serious work but it's underway. As you say Top 5 would be an achievement, certainly beyond what I expect.

Alright then, you say top 5 would be beyond what you expect, so that suggests you think at least 5 teams are better than us (or at least should be better than us). Which 5? And considering we finished 3rd in 2016 and 2017, why would you suddenly be so happy with 5th?

We certainly do, question is whether we have one. IMO we have the backs/halves. Our forwards need to find something we haven't seen yet this year though.

Saints
Warrington
Castleford
Wakefield
Catalans
I never said I would be "so happy" with 5th, I said it would be more than I expect. As said, we have the backs/halves but Taylor carried our pack last year and continues to do so. Our props as a group, particularly if you discount Bowdeb and Green as no-shows, are just not a match for other sides in that list and we need a platform. Let's not reopen the Watts wound but...
