He was appointed too soon in his coaching career which wasn't his fault but I think it will actually harm his longer term career whereas cooke has dropped to the lower leagues to learn his trade and will be better for it in the long run.
Beyond radford our coaching set up is inadequate. We need more support for the head coach including a player who understands the nuances of half back and attacking play'"
Pretty much sums up my thoughts. He still has plenty to prove. The recruitment (on paper) for 2015 looks promising but obviously time will tell.
Clearly a good start to 2015 is essential for Hull and for Radford. Pearson has publicly backed him but missing the cut and playing seven games to save our SL place should not be tolerated.

| Thinks he's entitled to another season.
He'll get sacked if we don't manage Top 8.

Can't say fairer than that.

| Don't think he is good enough at the moment but I believe a couple of years down the line he could potentially be a good coach, however I think first he needs to drop back down to assistant and work under a good established head coach.
He has shown he can get us competing in games, hence our points difference and Wigan been the only team to blow us away, he just lacks to knowledge to get those tight games into wins. Some crazy team selections also!

| Re: extra help with attacking play, I was encouraged when I heard that Michael Monaghan had turned down the head coach job at one of the Welsh clubs to stay involved in Super League however it now looks like he's heading to Catalans as assistant coach.

| Didnt think gentle was the man to take us to where we want to be,but compared to radford he was jose mourinho. The basic facts are we have sunk from 6th to 11th,been beaten by our neighbours 2 out of 3,our young player of the year has become a loan player at donny and now gone to aussie.I recall radford saying if he couldn't do the job he would leave, well iam sorry lee if you think 11th is ok that probably tells the story that pearson sees you as a cheap option, and we have to suffer the dire rugby we have seen for the majority of the season and into next.As always i will get my usual 3 passes, but if iam honest its out of my support for the club, than any hope of us doing anything under your stewardship. It will be a surprise and a pleasure to be wrong.

I disagree. We needed a coach who was up to the job and who would have others supporting him. Massive issue at Hull since kear ledt has been in appointing a succession of inexperienced assistants when we've been crying out for someone who knows the job inside out.
A big club like Hull isn't somewhere to throw in someone with barely any coaching experience. Shame we didn't appoint paul rowley as leigh look really organised. Wonder if saints will look at him

Must have been a tough choice
On a wider note, I think the ideal route for a coach is assistant at championship/SL, head coach in the championship then head coach at SL level. It's a massive job and maybe the RFL should get more involved with subsiding some coaches to widen the pool available

we keep hearing from Adam Pearson that he is meticulous with paperwork which is commendable but the inadequacy in the teams general play such as slow play the ball, poor kicking, poor passing, forwards taking the ball standing still and very little backing up the offloading forward was there for all to see.
Stats are all well and good but I saw no visible improvement in these areas which surely are areas a coach can work on during training.

| I'm not convinced but then again who really is? The short life span of nearly every coach both in SL and the NRL sees most appointments end in tears not many years at all down the track. There clearly aren't enough coaches deemed capable of providing 4+ years of acceptable service for all the teams involved - nowhere near that number. In truth there is very little to pick between the vast majority of them - these days they are all well qualified and up on the technical aspects. There a few very good ones and a few total duffers. The days of the totally clueless like Len Casey and Maurice Bamford are long gone. Radford sits in that great middle area and simply replacing him with someone who is likely to be of similar ability isn't going to help much on its own. Any long term improvement in Hull will extend way beyond just the coach. Having said that results have to count and missing out on the 8 this year would be totally unacceptable and the trigger for a replacement.

You aren't a big club anymore. Last won something ten years ago. Get over yourself. Great ground decent crowds but not a big club.

results have been rubbish because of the lack of a decent coach in part but we're one of only 4 clubs with a consistent fan base over 10k. like it or not we are a big club which isn't measured by on field success
