Five days later I'd stopped and that was two years ago. It's hard to believe a book can work, but it does. Anyway good luck'"
The only problem with the alan carr method is what he suggests you suck on instead of the ciggies

| Fair play to anyone attempting to give up. I stopped 14 years ago by giving away the rest of my pack and deciding that was it. I took every day as a success and regarded even having a drag as a failing and would be starting at the beginning again. Once I'd gone a few weeks I was more determined not to be back at square one which increased the determination. Never touched another since February 1999. Good luck all!

| I gave up using hypnotherapy and it was instant. Went in a smoker, came out a non-smoker. Best eighty quid I ever spent.

| Well done to all those who stopped. Unfortunately we're now all addicted to the Black and Whites and I sometimes wonder which is worse.

| I stopped first time for 18 months, on champix. I think it made me go mental though briefly!
Then last september, just stopped. Easiest way I think, pure will power and just do it. Sounds blase, but if you want to quit you will do it, and get rid of the nicotine from your receptors asap.

| Quote: owd bird "This is my first post so i hope i don't make a balls up. I stopped smoking 40 years ago, (i'm now 81) and after several failed attempts i discovered another way and found it easier than i thought. I was having a attack of bronchitus and i hadn't had a smoke for two or three days because i was coughing so much. I knew i had to stop. I was having some flack off my wife and daughter who where both nurses and then i realised i had stopped! If i just didn't start again it was half the battle. Other attempts had always failed by mates asking me how i was doing, and offering me cigs. Then the secret dawned on me, DON'T TELL ANYONE AT ALL! Six days later my daughter said you haven't had a cig today dad. But by then the worst was over, and i haven't had one since. The point is if noone knows there is no pressure, hope this helps.
I was quite a heavy smoker rolling my own with OLD FRIEND which older smokers will remember and is a very strong tobacco.
I'm not going to say this will work for everyone but it did for me and i never considered myself as being strong willed.'"
has anybody ever been banned for swearing in there first ever post? now that would be funny.
By the way i gotta disagree with you, you are a stubborn old mule.
welcome to the forum Dad
