| I don't think he was saying Cas are crap, he was trying to yet again have a dig that we didn't develop Manu we took him from Cas and therefore we shouldn't be upset when he leaves us. Either way it was a stupid comment.

| Quote: Chris28 "To be fair Eddie did pull him up on the "embarrassing" bit, putting the blame, indirectly, on the underinvestment in youth before Pearson.
I look forward to the next time Wigan have an injury crisis and have no suitable kids to play. Presumably Phil will encourage them to play with 15 or 16 to avoid the embarrassment he clearly feels is linked to loan players'"
To be fair to Clarke, he had a pop at Wigan the night before for playing Gelling on the wing and not a youngster.
I don't believe they're biased, and certainly don't believe they hate Hull (only a paranoid person with an inferiority complex would keep bringing that up).
I just think they're stupid and are trying to be controversial. The Willie Manu comment even had Eddie scratching his head, that's how stupid it was!

| Quote: Bet Lynch "They are muppets, however although we did suffer a lot of injuries which clearly had a detrimental impact it is all about a squad at this level. A lot of teams suffer injuries the difference is the top clubs have depth in their squads, hopefully AP, Bomber and Gentle will go some way to rectifying this for the future.'"
I don't know of any club with such depth that you could take 9 players out of their best 17, play them against two top four teams in consecutive weeks, and expect them to do a great deal better than we did.

| think this bias towards certain teams has gone on for ages.....unless a team outside the fab four wins it, it will continue, what you need is an nrl type of thing happeneing, ie: a team getting the wooden spoon one year then winning the comp the next, unfortunatly for SL..i cant see that ever happening as the entire game is set up so the big teams win...shocking really...

When if he'd engaged brain he'd have realised that with the exception of Catalans, WE HAVE !!
Would have been beautiful if someone on the panel not on a anti Hull agenda could have brought that to his attention.'"
I must admit, I am glad we've now reached the point where that can't keep being dragged out, it was getting tiresome. As you say, we've now played everyone barring Catalan, and even with the games in hand played for all clubs we'd be a minimum of 5th.

He is right, we should be embarrased.

Or a point behind Wigan if we had already played Cats and won there. It really does annoy and amaze me when they all keep harping on that we have not played anyone, but with a bit of homework the muppets would of noticed that we have already beaten both of last seasons grand finalists.

Did make me laugh when leeds were getting beat they showed Burrow and Hauraki sat on the bench commenting on how they had big stars out. NOBS the lot of em. Apart from Carney.'"
I thought the same thing there actually, with Horney, Westerman and Heremaia sat in our injury bench.
They're just a bunch of prats.

As well as taking a point off the minor premiers. In fact, if you just look at head-to-head results between last season's playoff teams we're level with Warrington and only a point behind Hudds and Catalan.

| I think the points raised by Clarke and Cullen the week before are valid. On saturday only Crooks and Houghton were Hull lads and a city the size of Hull should be embarrassed by our failure to produce Super League quality players. It is nothing new as in the glory days of the 80s we had 4 Kiwis and an Aussie in the backs and a predominantly West Yorkshire pack. I don't know why we do not produce good players locally but ultimately we need a pipeline of up and coming local lads to balance the salary cap. If we recruit highly paid Aussies or pay transfer fees for talented English lads from other clubs we will not have enough quality players within the cap.

We know our youth have been seriously lacking in recent years, the new chairman has put steps into to place to rectify this unfortunately it does not happen overnight. In time I am sure our youth policy will be very good and produce some of the stars of the future.
As for the 80's youth policies were poor throughout rugby league and the top teams just cherry picked the best players and slung them together with Aussies/Kiwis.

This.
A quick tour of these boards will reveal that pretty much every team thinks Sky in general and Clurkey in particular have it in for them. The logical conclusion is that they're just morons who like to say the odd controversial thing to get a reaction.
It's OK though, Clurkey has his unnecessary graphics and spurious stats to back him up, in his bid to sound like an insightful analyst of the game. A bid which has so far fooled nobody except the Sky Sports producers.

| Clarky has a short memory when Wigan was struggling at the bottom of the league they didnt bring young players.
They went out and bought players and broke the salary cap just to stay up .

I think Hull are borrowing it to assist with their training sessions rather than developing their own system
