Because, say we have 8,000 pass holders at an average of £200, that's £160,000. At £50 a pass, it'd take 32,000 pass holders to generate that revenue, which is obviously not feasible. At £100, it'd still take 16,000 ADULTS to purchase a pass to make it up.

Out of that 8000 a decent chunk are kids/students etc.
I feel £50/£100 is too low. A drop to around £200 would not see much of a dent but might well encourage some more to join especially if it is backed up with signings and a new coach.

They need a better deal with the stadium before they can reduce prices at all. The most likely outcome of reducing prices is that those of us who buy a pass get a cheaper pass, and those that don't continue to not buy a pass. If you drop the price by £50 then you immediately lose £400,000 (ish) - therefore, needing 1500 (ish) new season ticket holders - and dropping it by anything less than that is hardly likely to entice people to buy when their financial situation is the most likely reason for them not wanting to fork out.
It's like suggesting dropping train fares or bus fares; the numbers required to make up the shortfall are too high which is why you rarely see it happen - basic economics.

Good thinking, and then they could start charging for press conferences and training sessions.

| My South Stand pass was £199 this year, if that dropped to say £175 I'd be happy.
Match day prices need reviewing too, of course.

| I think the majority of us will be happy to pay a fair price, over the last few years we've been used as a cash cow paying over the odds compared to the rest of super league. We also need to encourage more travelling support (this always adds to the gameday atmosphere) so incentives are required there. I believe Pearson will get this right.

8000 x £200 is £1,600,000.

I was not saying do the entire ground at £50 a season pass lol...as a promotion do the north stand at that to see how it goes.

| The problem as it stands is the pesky SMC agreement which crazily means that we need a good crowd but not [itoo[/i good a crowd to maximise profits. This is why we don't do cheap promotions because over a certain crowd size a proportion of ALL ticket sales goes to the SMC.
On Pearson's arrival he first stated that our SMC agreement was excellent, yet in his interview yesterday he has already reviewed this and has annouced his intention to renegotiate utilising Allam's public commitment to the promotion of sport in Hull. I.e., Allam can only be seen to be encouraging high crowds for the rugby given his commitment to bring sport to all Hull citizens. Pearson's theory is that if that means renegotiating Hull's agreement to ensure this happens, Allam cannot refuse. Clever Adam.

The deal was made when we had much smaller crowds, our crowds have grown beyond what anyone could have considered when we moved to the KC.
the deal also has many plus points, such as free stewarding and ticket office staff.
the deal also protected the club if we fell on bad times as we could in effect get gates below 7,500 and pay very little to use a top class ground. Back in 2001/2002 when the deal was made you coulden't completely rule out relegation from any future planning.

Spot on. Deal was great and fitted what we needed then. Think it has been renegotiated an couple of years ago to reflect the increased crowds, but we've outgrown it and for us to compete with the likes of Wigan it needs a full review to reflect our needs now.
Not sure how willing the old Duffen-led SMC was to do this, but Pearson seems confident he can, ahem, negotiate with Allam.

Yes, that's my bad. I guess that's what happens when you're doing maths while watching Saints vs Hudds and listening to FC on the radio.
