The fact that Newton was the on field captain at the time and is allowed to speak to the ref alludes you then?

Depends on what he said and how he said it. captains can be sent off for abuse, they are not immune.

On that point half way through a gallon of ale in a pub, I could see that Hodgson was in touch underneath the linesmans nose. Vella was not amused. Linesmen it would seem are only there to judge goalkicks.

Totally agree. It was standees assumption of guilty until proven innocent that riled.

I can only smile at that and hope its irony, considering your coaches comments.

He wasn't though. His head was over the line, but did not touch the whitewash, which means he's still in the field of play - like when a player jumps from the pitch to save a 40/20, they are over the line but no on the ground, so its allowed (i think ![THINK eusa_think.gif](images/smilies//eusa_think.gif) )

| Just a quick question to all out there:-
Have we done away with the rule that you have to play the ball with your foot back to the acting half back?
I only ask this because it is very rare now when you watch that a player EVER touches it with his foot or for that matter makes any atempt too, a foot is lifted and the ball thrown back with the hand.
The powers that be only seem concerned with scoring more and more points and making the game 'entertaining' and tackling and the play the balls are becoming so quick and messy that they resemble more a game of 'touch rugby'
Just curious.

58058_1310484944.jpg Love my Rugby League.
The game will survive in North Wales. Too much work and effort has been put in, to let it go to waste. We have an appetite for this sport and we'll make it work.
You're likely to see me in a Crusaders shirt, in a Warrington game or a Catalans game.

| Depends which game Alibert is refereeing - lower games (Wakey v Cru for example) he's good. For the bigger games, on Sky, he loses control of the game. The good thing with Alibert is his fitness is very good and is always there to make the decisions.
To me, it seems there's two groups. The decent referee's (Silverwood, Ganson, Bentham and Alibert) and the useless bunch (Thaler, Child and Hicks).

| Alibert and Bentham are by far the best 2 refs in the comp.

It's the inconsistency that is the problem, on their day they are all decent referees.
