I think that works the other way round in a lot of cases.

| Praying we get one.. Really think we could kick-on like yourselves and Warrington if we can just get the new stadium.
Although, with the really big crowds you get, you could argue you deserve even better..

| Born and bred in York son of a father who played for...don't hit me...Rovers (mainly A team - only a handful of first team games due to doing National Service in Droitwich.) He also played for Doncaster (3-4 seasons) and York (helping out with A team when FC legend Tommy Harris was coach - played one game for first team losing 52-0 to Featherstone - 'nuff said) as well as amateur.
Whilst this gave me an early affinity for the game, I grew up playing football. When I moved to Beverley fifteen years ago a couple of the lads in the team I joined were lifelong FC supporters and I started going to the Boulevard with them occasionally - usually before going round the Old Town on a footy lads night out! I loved the atmosphere, the changing ends at half time and the banter. One Saturday evening Sky game particularly stands out, when we all turned up in pyjamas and dressing gowns before heading into town. We got some great comments! Despite having loved playing football, I grew totally disenchanted with the professional game and can't stand watching the overpaid, cheating, diving, pansies. On the other hand I found the FC games to be exciting and full of good old honest action.
As I got nearer the end of my football playing days the visits (by now to the KC) became more regular and then, when my kids also started coming along (both having been born in the area) that was it - we were hooked. A few years as pass holders and and we all feel truly black and white - even if my lads can claim it with more local validity than me!
One thing though....I can never bring myself to sing the "Rovers scum" song. I just doesn't sit comfortably with me -effectively calling my own Dad scum!

| My Uncle Paddy (RIP) moved over from Ireland to marry my Aunt.
Don't know the reasons he started to go to the rugby at The Boulevard but I have distinct memories of being a youngster with my brother and sister along with my cousins and my Uncle, stood in the old wooden Threepenny Stand. One of the most passionate FC fans I knew, at his funeral it was requested that at the wake people wore their FC shirts in memory.

Now that is loyalty.
Got to say I am pleased I am not buying your car off you.
Harping back to my earlier post,it was 1985 if I recall correctly.
The days of Norton,O`Hara,Stone,etc,etc............sigh,all nostalgic now.

| Brought up around Pontefract and was bombarded with Wakey, Fev and Cas all the time. I favoured Fev but (maybe strangely) only really started watching RL with the Dons in about 1965 when they played at Tattersfield in front of 200 fans. They used to lose nearly every match but when I started supporting them they won the next four matches! I remember them winning at Headingley 22-11 when Lewis Jones was playing and Tasker, our left winger, scored four tries!
Moved to Hull in 1967 and was taken to the Boulevard and was gobsmacked by the atmosphere - haven't looked back since...
