We need an experienced organiser with a kicking game. We can compensate for defensive weakness, but we go from one half-baked signing to another at half back. Dykes with legs held together by Sellotape, Thorman, Seymour, Long, Holdsworth..the answer last year was sign unproven Miller mid season and expect him to steer us round the park immediately. He's just not ready, should be learning from a seasoned pro. Until we make signing one our single biggest priority, we have no chance. Put all other recruitment on hold until it's sorted. Sounds like Dobson's gone to Warrington, which is a real shame for us.

Oh well we can always build a team around Richard Horne. Bout time that Horne lad was given a chance.......

Horne isn't the future, but he looks like our best current option, and he's been good for us in the recent past.

This. Horne has been the scapegoat too often from our fans but he has never let us down. Yes, he isn't the future and I was one of many that felt it was better if we gave Miller and Rankin some game time together to try and gel but I'm not convinced that they will. I would have no issues with Horne returning to the team.

The general consensus seemed to be "give Miller and Rankin some time together" and this was reflected in the poll that was held. I think yesterday's events proved that, unfortunately, its not going to happen. We need to get an experienced 7 as soon as possible or its going to be another season of what might have been. I still believe Rankin will turn out to be a very good player for us.

Really? I've watched the same inept performances as yesterday for the last seven years, mostly with Horne in the halves.

Horne is crap, as was his brother, but sentiment runs Hull FC, that's why we have a bully as coach. I always thought AP to be a decent guy, but the club is rotten from the core. He has possibly had some bad advice. But keeping Yeaman, signing Carvell, come on, admit defeat.

In Horne's defence, for a lot (most) of that time he was being asked to play as an organising 7 alongside such heavyweights as Danny Washbrook. Organising and long kicking have never been Horne's natural game, but he was shoehorned into that position time and time again. On the few occasions he's played alongside a fit and competent half, he's done well.

Sick of hearing this defence of Horne. He's an experienced halfback, how at his age is he not able to control a game? Why has his kicking never improved?

it's simple, he's not very good. He's a great guy and always gives 100%, but he can't conjure talent he hasn't got, he's like Radford, the epitome of average.
