| Quote: airliebird, runninglate! "Holdsworth never been the kind of player people are
Now making him out they want to be. Miller is the perfect foil for him in my opinion. 1s a runner, one takes n makes time n organises.
Are people that silly they can't remember holdsworth winning n getting man of the match in all our big games this yr?
Look, lots of the team deserve bagging, holdsworth too but stop now bagging him for not being the kind of player he's never been. If you don't have runners, foils or go forward pack your halves will always look rubbish no matter how good they are.
Also in defence of Millar n holdsworth as a partnership since they've come together as the weeks have gone by we've lost more n more players
Restricting them further crooks lineham Arundel ogre whiting tonight macdonal lynch for a few games n few others.'"
But that's exactly my problem with Holdsworth; if he's supposed to provide our organisation, direction, and composure, then where is it? We are completely the opposite most of the time; indecisive, aimless, and panic-ridden.
As I said earlier, if you take his kicking game out of the equation, I just wouldn't see a justification for picking him. His handling skills are nothing special for a halfback, and whilst he's supposed to be the senior player (and as you say, our organiser) over the past few games when the going has got tough he's seemed to be more than happy to leave Miller to it taking the lead. At least Miller is trying to take games by the scruff of the neck, even if he's making a few errors.

| since the warrington away game, Holdsworth has done nothing, his partnership with horney upto his injury was excellent, since then, apart from the semi final holdsworth has showed and offered little if not nothing
one more year on his contract then let him go, sooner if someone comes in for him, but cant see that happening
biggest disappointment of the year his signing

Woooooaaahhh there.. He never fooled me..
I disagreed with his signed from the outset. A certain 'brother' openly criticised me on twitter for daring to question DJ and Galea and for doubting PG.. DJ himself blocked me because I didn't follow him like the pied piper!!
This is not an 'I told you so' mission but our recruitment in 2013 was shocking from the outset papered over by one big signing (Ellis) and 2014 will be just the same (Paea). I expect an 8/9th place finish next year without major changes being made!!

Bomber should be staying.
Fook knows where we'll be in years to come without his recruitment expertise.
Perhaps he'll keep his ear to the ground for us in an unpaid, advisory sort of way?

| Nice to see that last night has resurrected a bit of the old 'it's Bomber's fault' approach.

| I think the concussion has had a lot more affect on Holdsworth than the club like to admit.
Looked a good player at the start of the season but keeps well out of the way now (not the only one mind).

| "Bomber" recruited Holdsworth for you, brought him to Salford and lived next door to him in Salford. He also negotiated his early release from Salford. You will either have to accept Holdsworth for what he is or pay him off. He is moody and you can see this in his play, highs and lows.

| Quote: billywizz "after watching golden balls holdsworth this year, was semour really that bad, does'nt seem to want to get his elbows dirty holdsworth, apart from a very good kicking game, was does holdsworth bring to the team, no pace, doe'snt take the line on, and only pops up when set plays are on, miller i will reserve judgments until next year, still very young but takes the line on sometimes. semour was a mixture of both but cant of been no worse than these two.
as for horne, remember people calling for him to retire last year, past it they said, we all know he was our best half back this year and after he got injured, we failed to make breaks down the middle and our attack suffered.
looking back, did semour get unfair critism as our golden pair half backs miller and holdsworth have failed to better semour,'"
Just because one HB fails to live up to expectation does not mean that previous opinions of past players changes. I fear for next season. I was clinging to the hope that Holdsworth and Miller would get better in the off season, but it will have to be a miraculous recovery from here.
I agree Horney is our best HB as things stand, but he has once again spent far too long out injured. The odd season you can say its unlucky, but I am afraid with Horney its no longer a case of being unlucky. His body has taken 15 years of high impact RL and it can not do it anymore week in week out. You have to accept with him that he will be out for more than he is in. That for me is the rub.
I suspect we are going to have to wait a further 5 years before our junior players mature and bring us anything like what we expect. The market is not awash with quality and certainly not the quality of a side with top 4 aspirations.
Sadly also we are now stuck with a lightweight packwho fail to dominate in a way that benefits the half backs. Paea and Feka only need to spend a dozen games out between them and all the go forward we see on paper will be lost.
I forecast more heartache for the faithful. But maybe I am a little raw after last night.

| Due to Horne's injury Miller has been thrown in at the deep end and played every game since he arrived.
He is far from the finished article and can't have been expected to play so much so soon.
He does look like a headless chicken at times but at least he takes on the line and I thought he did pretty well in the second half last night.
I think he will be better after a full pre-season.

| Think any halfbacks would struggle behind a beaten pack, saying that holdsworth has been disappointing since the cup semi, maybe that head injury is still at the back of his mind, think miller will get better next year, for me the player who hasnt done out for awhile and his tackling has gone awol is yeaman, for me would start with arundel and crooks
