Seriously though it sounded just like last year. Old habits die hard n all that but it sounds like we were beaten in all aspects of play

Feeling quite deflated after watching that. Got nothing from the ref but errors and penalties absolutely killed us. Main positives for me were Sharp who I thought looked far better than last season, plenty of zip from Houghton, some good hits but defence looked dodgy in parts - reasonable on the goal line but less so in open play. McKinnon looked OK as did Martin but SEymour didn't impose himself on the game. Bit of a let-down overall.

Don't be silly, we're talking about full-time professionals here. If they took the job seriously they shouldn't need a pre-season or even a coach. All players should be like Mick Crane, turn up on match-day, with a boot in each pocket and a Parky hanging out their gobs

Lots to work on but not too fussed as was first game some people are forgetting . Only thing that worries me is we lack bit of size in the forwards . Seymour grew into the game I thought in the 2nd half

Good run out for first pre-season friendly and some positives to take from the game. Result means nothing really although the celebrations of the rovers players almost confused me into thinking it was some sort of cup final or perhaps the superbowl has come early? Forward passes really need sorting out this year.

It was a typical first hit out, 2 shiite teams ours being the worst. Defense needs to tighten up which I am sure will come. Yeamo & Brisc need to sort their side out they got owned today! Never saw any-thing to get too excited about no sparks at this stage. Not sure how Gentle is using Westy as he never seemed to get his hands on the ball it just went through Seymour all the time. F/Back looked OK nice and safe.
Work to do but hopefully we will be a different proposition in 2 weeks time.

That is correct and it may take Gentle some time to make drastic improvements. Personally as long as I see those improvements happening I will be happy, Rome was not built in a day

Only if wear black and white it would seem. I counted a good dozen clear forward passes before I gave up. I thought the ref was poor all-round really but I guess they need games to get upto speed too.

McKinnon and almost 14k

At the end of the day, the game was a freindly and the idea is just to give the team a run-out to prepare for the season.

Sadly many 'fans' at the end forgot that and were loudly moaning and whining about it being 'the same old rubbish' that you 'couden't pay them to attend the Warrington game' etc

it was far from the exciting 'new era' performance we were expecting, but we have to remember that this was Hull's first run out, whereas Rovers have had one freindly already.

I was impressed with McKinnon, I thought he looked solid under the high ball (not easy in today's wind) and made good meters when returning the ball. Seymour had a quiet first half, but got more into it in the 2nd half and he showed some good touches. Heremaia also injected a bit of pace in to a slow game.

Still concerned by our right side though, Sharp had a decent game, but was clearly being targetted and you fear he will be targetted every week by sides. Tony Martin was as expected, looked pretty solid in defence, but had no pace what so ever when he made a break.

Horne was completely anonymous, as were Yeaman and Briscoe.

Fair call that he did OK.

Lots to work on in the next fortnight. Very disappointing performance even though it was a first run out. Feeling exactly the same right now as I have done for the past 3 years, downbeat.

Thought Seymour was ur most threatening player although cud get a ban first 15 mins u looked dangerous (not u personally lol) and I'm sorry but what the hell is Ellis on blooming murrell looks anorexic next to him think he looks way way to fat.

Disappointing result, more for the fact Rovers seemed more up for it than us but I think we only had 3 chances in their red zone and scored twice (the other being Seymour getting held up), we had no ball with the penalty count.

I thought generally our defence was okay, with the amount of ball Rovers had more teams would have scored over 30, hopefully the 1 on 1 misses later in the game were due to tiredness.

Seymour got better and Martin proved he is the better option than Turner who I thought was poor. Impressed by Mika and Paea for Rovers.
