| That was such a great final. Think that and Live Aid were the two main events of 1985.
Some amazing players on show and great tries scored that day. Over 99,000 fans in Wembley too. Think we had the Tunnel end at the old Wembley.
Ultimately it was goal kicks that made the difference. They had Henderson Gill as a part time kicker, slotting them over glaring the right. As mentioned in Wilf’s report, Crooks missed a few goals that day and then Schofield missed the last two conversions. All not easy, but we shouldn’t have missed so many. That was ultimately the difference. It highlighted the value Sneyd made in 2016 and 2017, especially in the 2017 final v Wigan, were he converted 3 difficult kicks, which was the difference on the day.
Looking back, though I was disappointed we lost, I still enjoy watching the highlights of that game. Other Wembley defeats were harder. 1980 was my first final. I’d always thought Rovers had dominated, until I watched a re-run a couple of years ago and we really should have won that day. Obviously 1983 was a shocker, where we turned up expecting to walk past a relegated Featherstone and they deservedly beat us. 2008 v Saints we gave that a good go v strong favourites. 2013 v Wigan was an absolute awful showing, but at least we didn’t concede 50.

I can't believe it was 40 years ago. Seems like only last week.
Kemble was out of sorts after a long injury lay off and got his timing wrong on a few occasions. Had he not we'd have likely won and has been said, schofield should have started
Was it in the semi-final versus Cas that Kemble got stiff armed by Orum? Was never the same after that and seemed to lose a yard or two of pace. Cost us at Wembley that as he would have got Kenny and Gill in his prime?

| The 1/4 final replay was just as good… a Wednesday night in Widnes…Kevin James scored a scorcher and Sterlo was conducting the hull fans to sing louder

Yeah…we ripped them to pieces after that and Kemble seemed to lose his confidence after that and was never the same player but by god he was good…

Right on half time behind our posts. Started a brawl and I think it was Neil Puckering having a right ding dong with one of the Cas players? Wednesday night at Headingley and we went with East Yorkshire buses which was a bloody double decker bus along the M62.

I was at that one too. Great night 1 of the best atmospheres I have been in.When was the last time a 1/4 and semi- final went to replays…memory serves me right but wasn’t we lucky to get a draw in both games and Sterlo missed the 1st 1/4 final game.
