| Quote Freddie Miller.="Freddie Miller."In my forties then and after seeing the drawn match at Wembley was unable to make the replay as I was in the US on a company business trip from Aus. Before leaving Aus in order to make the Wembley game I reorganised the business trip and reversed the original itinerary by starting the trip in England and finishing in the US. Rang my wife to get the result and watched a recording of the match when I returned home.
Trivia alert! '40 Years On' was my high school song which was bashed out at the end of every school year. Originally written for Harrow school in the late 19th century and used as a school song by many other schools.'"
I'm quite a bit younger than you Freddie, but as a kid I went to Beverley Grammar School, who had 'Forty Years On' as the school song. Instead of correctly singing the first line as "Forty years on when afar and asunder", it was always sung as "Forty years on with a f*rt like thunder"! Such school boy naughtiness :

I was at Riley High for 7 years and remember a guy from Beverley Grammar joining our 6th form class and becoming top student. Also I believe your old school is reputed to be the oldest state school in the UK.

So I believe (about Beverley Grammar). When I was there it was always talked about as the 3rd oldest, but that was about 50 years ago.
My Dad, rest his soul, went to Riley High and he was the one that got me hooked on Hull FC. I used to sit on his shoulders, watching the game, towards the back of the threepenny stand in the early 60's. It was also a family thing with my two uncles there as well.

When I was at Riley the school was at the corner of Boulevard/ Anlaby Rd and moved to a new location a year after I left in 1956. Both are now long gone.
Dad took me to my first Hull game back in 1946 and I started going to matches by myself shortly after. I watched from the hill at the Gordon St end.

I bet this story is so true for many of the Black and White fans. It certainly is in my case as it was a real familyu outing with my dad, grandad, aunty, 2 uncles and my cousin acting as ball boy at Gordon Street end.

I am an ex Riley boy, who was part of the Rugby team that refused to play Union, as coached by Kim Johnson and Graham Ollett , both with local RU Clubs at the time, we won and had a RL team there for the first time in several years, much to the afore mentioned teacher's chagrin, who promptly refused to coach us when that happened!

See Wakey offering cheap tickets £15, hope Hudds and Hull do something similar, get a few people in.'"
Tickets for hudds are £18 if bought up front. £20 on the day.

| I've just had a few quid on us to win the CC at 12/1.
The betting for the quarters are really tight with only Wigan big favs to beat Wakey.
Bookies have the other three ties as a toss of the coin job.

When I was at the Riley Boulevard site no rugby was played at the school. Our weekly sports day was held at Inglemire Lane sports ground a few miles away which had no rugby posts, so we only played soccer.
We had a good connection with RL though when Brian Darlington came to Riley as Gym Master in the last couple of years I was there. Brian was an even time sprinter and signed for Hull in the mid 50's as a winger where he played for a few seasons including league championship winning sides.
I played soccer for Riley and after leaving for Hull Technicla College initially played RL for Fenners in the Works league before switching to RU for the the remainder of the 3 years I was at Hull Tech.

Certainly is brilliant odds if we beat Huddersfield draw cas or rovers in semis suddenly we'd be nearly favourites for it
11/1 on bet365 and sky bet at the quarter final stage for us is a mental price really
