For me scrums in rugby league are a complete waste of time and make rugby league a joke to other sports looking in.
They are uncontested, with the ball fed in diagonally through the props legs. Teams then rarely have any imaginative moves. Can’t remember last time I saw a team score from a scrum. Most teams only know the different miss move combinations out wide on the attacking left edge in general play. Very little originality, although last weekend Warrington did try several little chips over the top, which can quite often come off and open play up.
Would love to see a team score a try again from a runaround move after winning a scrum against the head, ala the 1982 Challenge Cup Replay.
So for me, unless they are going to have them contested, or at least have the ball fed in straight and a hooker ‘hook’ the ball, we might as well carry on as we are.
